Default team night sheets

hello,
i'm from missouri. i am a advanced raider collector needing only a few pieces to complete every raider listed in bi beckett up to year 1990. i became bored with the hobby in 89 or so because i had completed the biggest part of my raider stuff known to me(i didn't have internet then) and i knew a guy in california that turned me on to collecting team night sheets the first year the promotion ran. we were able to keep up with it the first couple years but after that it kinda got away from us. i've stayed interested ever since but i only collect the sheets from 1990-2000. i have close to 200 now but have over 100 left or so. the problem is there is no complete check list for the sheets. i have 3 times as many or more than beckett lists. so this is what brings me to this site. i still need a few raider items and a whole bunch of team night sheets. i also have sheets to sell or trade. i also collect nfl food issue promos and have several harder to find items to sell or trade along that line. because there is no true "checklist for team nite sheets i use a have list to collect with. i am needing any sheet i don't have. i have my shhets listed that i have to sell or trade and i have another list of sheets i have but only enough for my collection. i hope to be able to use this forum for buying, selling, and trading for nba team night sheets as well as some very obscure and potentially impossible raider items. i am also 2 stickers panels shy of completing my 69 eskimo pie set. i'll buy any 69 eskimo pie. i also have some raider items to sell or trade but not a lot. like i said i hope to use this forum for what it was established for, buying, selling, and trading sports cards. i think i have some collectibles that will be on a lot of peoples list and hopefully you'll also be able to fill some holes on my lists.

Default team night sheets

They are uncut perforated sheets that were handed out at "NBA HOOPS Nights at NBA arenas across the country. I am not an expert but I think they first started the idea in 1990. There are sparse uncomplete description and checklists located in the BIG Beckett Basketball card Pice Guide. I don't have the latest 14th edition in front of me but in the 13th edition you can find a description for the 90-91 on page 133.

I started collecting them in 1990. Each team was in charge of distribution and usually distibuted the sheets as a game giveaway. This resulted in a lot of the sheets being torm into single cards immediately. The sheets that remained intact were either dinged or creased during the game or the ride home. A smarter distribution method was to distribute after the game. Some teams cut their cards into strips and disributed then on different nights. In Phoenix in 1990 the sheets came attached to cases of pop making mint sheets virtually impossible to find. Other teams let the sponsors distribute them at their respective places of business. Most teams were liberal in their distribution process and other were ultra conservative. In some cases the team really embraced the promotion and several printings with different player and sponsor variations were produced. In 1990/91 while chasing the promotion I found that a few teams were very hard to get. It took 7 years to fill my 90-91 master set. I am not exactly sure it is complete because I've never seen an official checklist. The teams that were very hard to find on 90-91 were the Boston Celtics,Dallas Mavericks,Houston Rockets,LA Lakers(full sheet),Miami Heat,New York Knicks,Philidelphia 76ers(only1sheet),Portland Trailblazers(they cut sheets into strips),Seattle Supersonics(4 diff variations),Utah Jazz(only2sheets), and the Bullets. The 90-91 Detroit Pistons were originally tough to get but can now be had for a dime a dozen. I found out a couple years ago that the Pistons mistakenly overlooked several cases during the giveaway and several years later several cases were found in the Pistons dumpster.

In subsequent years the teams became more security minded with the sheets as the promotion was quite costly. In 91-92 and 92-93 the sheets were still obtainable in the hobby market but after 1993 most teams are impossible to find. While the promotion continued in most NBA cities, getting a sheet without attending the games became quite a task.

I have over 200 different sheets half of which are not listed in the BIG Beckett Annual BB card price Guide. They are a neat collectable if you can put up with their oddball size. The reason I like them is because they do present a challenge to the collector in that they are out there if you want to dig hard enough to find them. If I were a faster typer I could tell you more but I hopes this helps.
