Evan's Contest #1

Really digging HC and want to keep the momentum going in a positive direction so this will be my first contest.

Task: Post a scan of your favorite card that you pulled from a pack and give a few words about why this card is your favorite. Scans are required for this.

Rules: Contest will end Friday, August 27th at 11:59 pm. All submissions will need to be made by then. I will choose the winner and ship the card out on Monday.

Prize: Shawn Marion 1999/2000 Topps Finest Rookie or a Kenny Thomas Skybox Autographics auto. First place gets choice and second gets the other card.

My favorite card ever pulled is actually a baseball card.I went to card shop one morning and picked up a few things.One of the things I picked up was a pack of 2000 E-X Baseball.I didn't get anything good out of that pack but looked at the back and realized Autographics were 1:24 packs.I had $15 left and decided to spend it on 3 more E-X packs to see If I could pull an auto.The very first of the 3 packs I opened obtained not only an Autographics,but one of the best in the set...Cal Ripken Jr.I almost had a heart attack...lol

My favorite card I pulled from a pack still happens to be my most expensive card. Every year I buy a box of SPx hoping to pull a MJ GU or Auto. Back in the day when Autos were an afterthought, I really wanted to pull an MJ GU. So lo and behold, I was pretty excited when I pulled this card:

At the time it was worth $1200 I believe. Although it has since dropped to $500, it still remains my only MJ GU and because of it, it's very hard for me to get rid of it (as some people can attest to). I just love how not only does it contain an actual game worn jersey (which not all GUs have these days), but it also has a piece of game worn shoes on it. Not only that, it is a GU of, in my opinion, the best player ever to lace up sneakers and step onto the court. Although my main hobby is collecting Michael Redds, some people know I am still a closest MJ collect, lol. That's another reason why it has sentimental value for me. It still remains to this day the best card I've ever pulled from a pack.

This one is a beauty.My only Autograph card I have ever pulled in a bkb product and still the only one.Hopes were running low and I was about to quit collecting since I didnt have the money for cards anymore.Well then a Box that guarentees you an auto card came out called 03 04 SP Signature Edition.As some of you remember on TR Richypf32 was doing a group buy and I decided to buy a tin for $55 shipped.Well the tin showed up and so did the card.Beautiful signature.BV is/was 1,200.This is truly the best card I have ever pulled.03,04 SP Signature Lebron James Auto RC /50

I am going for the set of patches and so I bought a box hoping to get one I needed. Not only did I get one I needed, I got this card. It's my favorite because it is my first and so far only 1 of 1, I needed it for my set, and my 5 year old thinks it is the coolest card.

mine actually is from a football pack

i went into the local card shop and bought a box of 2001 spx football(probably 129 then)

well i pulled the Deuce Mcallister autograph rookie jersey #'d to 250 and his spx winning materials

the good part about it is it booked 60 then, and since deuce is a top 5 rb, its gone up to 200, and is one of my main Personal Collection centerpieces

i sold the winning materials a little early though :\

My favorite card I've ever pulled isn't a game used or autographed card. Since I live quite a ways away from a cardshop, I do most of my shopping at retail stores. Anyways, as I was checking out I noticed that they had a box of 1997-98 Flair Showcase Hobby. Not only is hobby rare to find at retail stores, the price was only like $3 a pack. So I picked up one pack hoping to pull a T-Mac or Duncan Rookie. Instead I pulled this... (sorry for the bad scan)

Although it only books $30, its probably my favorite card pulled from considering I only bought one pack. Also you can't go wrong with the greatest player in the history of basketball.

BigBen - Great card. I've always loved the Flair Showcase parallels, too. Something about the design and the way that the card shimmers under light is amazing. Kind of the way that everyone was impressed with refractors when Finest first had them in 1993. Btw, who did your signature? I'm interested in getting one that looks as professional as yours.
