I have started collecting this player after reading about him in PRE draft reports, etc. I was hoping to see him go higher then 10, but after 10, i wanted to see him go 13, which he did.... good old LUCKY 13! lol. Coming up as a STREET BALLER, and marburys cousin, alot of hype and only good things to come hopefully. He just has a nice style, and always looking to pick up one of his cards!

I'm really interested in collecting Telfair and what will likely be his only high school jersey card, unless Upper Deck has him (depending on what his Topps contract says) for the SP Top Prospects did for LeBron last year. He has all of the appeal a flashy point guard does, but not since Iverson have I seen a guard with such little fear on the court.
My main reason for thinking he will be a great player is that there are too few true pointguards in the NBA. Most of them are of the Nash, Iverson, and Marbury category in that they will shoot as often or more than they get assists. If a team has a great point guard and athletic players like the Blazers have, you can run all day long for breaks and easy baskets. Telfair has played against the best competition at the high school level in AAU ball and more importantly in New York. New York has bred some of the best point guards to play basketball and most of them who made it to the league have held the spotlight at certain times in their career.
It might take a few years for him to adjust to a league where a guy 6'6 can run with him and the level of overall play, but once he finds a groove with his teammates and sees what smaller guys can do, he will be a star. Personally, I would love to see a Pearl Washington, Earl Monroe, or Isiah Thomas type of career for him since he would turn into the best since Stockton.

i collect him because of all the hype he received prior to the draft. last year i collected lebron for a period of time and this year its telfair.
he comes out of new york and is a great player. another reason i collect him is because all the analyst say he wont be that great cause of his size and that he wasnt worthy of the 13th pick. i just wanna see him proove all the people wrong like a carlos boozer did. also he is on a great team with the trailblazers and he should learn a lot from stoudamire who in his own right is a small player for the nba level and he will shine on that team. he has a lot of good players around him with shareef, randolph, miles, stoudamire and ratliff. also being the cousin of a great like marbury who is excelling on the olympic level means he was bread with the talent therefore n e thing less than a stellar career would be a failure. like the guy above said an isiah thomas career would be the thing to compare telfair too. thats why i collect him and thats why i believe he is going to be a great player thanx

Why do I collect Sebastian Telfair? I myself am a huge streetball fan and player, telfair has been a streetball legend ever sicne i can remeber, and when i seen him play for the 1st time i espn i was just amazed with what he could do with the ball, reminded my of "Pistol Pete," after i seen him play that game on espn i knew that i was going to collect on him even if he went to college, it would be worth the wait, i think bassy will be a great player in the league because he has a jason kidd like sense with the ball, and yes he does get critized for his height, but he uses that as motivation to work hard every day......bassy should be a great player in the league and watch the sportscenter top ten cause you know he will be on there........thanks alot for the contest JSA

I am collecting Sebastian Telfair simply because he can play. He has proven his game in the Streets, and (unlike most street players), he has excelled in organized play throughout his High School career. The thing that I was most impressed with was the fact that, despite averaging a scorching 33.2 ppg his Senior year, he still managed to rack up nearly 300 assists. Considering his size, 5-11, he will need the ability to get his teammates involved to survive in the L. Scoring for him will be a bonus. His passing skills are going to secure his spot on the team. I know he is still young, and a lot of these kids let the hype and money go to their heads, but he has already endured a lot, and seems to have kept his priorities straight. He will be a star in his first year, and for many years to come. Good Luck Bassy!

Sebastain Telfair is an amazing player. His stature is small, but boy was he born to play the streetball style of game. He's from New York and he led his team to 3 New York PSAL titles, and a state title. He scored so many points and gathered at least 7 assists per season. His game is great and he has the genes of an NBA family. Stephon Marbury is a top five point guard in the NBA and is the cousin of Telfair. I believe he would have flourished under Rick Potino in Louisville, but he chose to fulfill he lifelong dream. Going into the NBA is a huge transition for this greatly talented passer. His flashy moves will prove to those GM's that he shouldn't have lasted until the late in the lottery. Telfair gained great recognition and a shoe endorsement from Addidas. He is going to be great. I collect his cards because he is the type of David that I can see beating Golaith. He will prove his doubters wrong and he will become just as great as his cousin, if not better. I love watching him play and he will thrive under Mo Cheeks in Portland. I have collected his cards since he first declared for the NBA as I know he will become one of my favorite NBA players right when he steps onto the court against Golden State on November 3. When he was asked by Portland's web site makers what he would take on a stranded island if he had all of the necessities and he said a photo of his family. This shows me that he cares about how fortunate he is and appreciates all that his family has done for him.
