"HOT" packs - Are They for "REAL"

I'm not new to the hobby (c.1976) - therefore, I'm suspicious of some things other hobbiests do. Recently I saw someone on Ebay sellinig various "Hot" packs containing gaurenteed autographs (brands like Bowman Chrome, Topps Chrome Update, etc.). For s..ts and giggles I purchased 2 various packs for about $30 total (it was a good month selling BGS 9.5's on Ebay

). I did recieved the promised autograph in each pack. My questions to everyone are these: 1)was it just my bad luck that I pulled unlisted Autographed rookies do you think? or 2)is this a "scam"? BYW...I sent a message to the seller asking him a question about "how exactly are you successful at deserning which packs are "hot" packs?" - wanna know his answer? He HASN'T answered (now over 2 weeks)

its not a scam but you are promoting the highly unethical "pack searching" that is rampant in the hobby..

Of course he won't tell you. He is a pack searcher. So those open boxes at walmart or wherever. He goes in does a search finds the packs with the goodies. Leaving the crap for the next person. He gets hot packs for the reg price then sells them to you. These people are nothing more than thieves.

This is one reason I don't buy boxes from just anyone off ebay.

As with any loose packs, it is possible that the packs are searched themselves and re-sealed with no-name autos.

Aceecards and bondsaway hit the nail on the head. These guys are thieves and in my (and probably most true collectors') opinion should not be supported.
