Previous Feedback: 176 Tradepage My Ebay Auctions My Card Inventory

Default Looking for opinions on eBay sellers shipping fees.

I have seen these unreal shipping charges on eBay for a while and I even see them here in the Sell forums on TR. Things like 2.50 for the 1st card and 1.00 for each additional card. I think it's robbery and just a way for the sellers to pad their wallets. 2.50 is a reasonable shipping charge, but an extra 1.00 for another card. I charge 2.00 on 90% of my auctions. Even when shipping overseas. I can mail anywhere from 1 to 15 cards at my 2.00 rate, depending on how thick the cards are. What does everyone else think???? Todd

If it doesn't say # 1/1 on the card, then it's not a 1/1.

Just because it says # 1/xx on the card, doesn't mean it's the first one made, just the first one numbered.

IMO a seller can charge whatever they want for shipping & handling within reason. Keep in mind some of these powersellers have packagers which they have to pay a fee as well. I personally just factor the shipping cost into what I am willing to pay and bid accordingly...As a seller, I charge $2.95 for shipping & handling. With the cost of ebay and paypal fees being so high I think many sellers, like myself, try to lessen the blow by bumping the SH price a bit.

As far as additional charges for multiple cards I agree. I have had cases where I've won 15 or so single card auctions and the seller will charge some ridiculous amount like $9...

Yea its well beyond stupid. Case in point bought a Jason Kidd jersey I needed for my set. Paid .99 for auction had jersey and 2 other cards. Then i get hit with a $5 shipping fee. They cards arrived in a white envelope and toploader. Then its missing one card. He told me if I didn't like the fee not to bid. He didn't say he was charging me $5 for a white envelope!!!!

I start S&H at $2.50, and I combine all shipping.

I HATE it when sellers do not do any combining of shipping. I guess $1 is alright for a second card, but then the thrid should be either $0.50 or free...shipping should not be over $5 for cards (which I have sadfully paid before, for 5 cards...)

I think the second auction should be free shipping (for cards), for they can be combined without any price change (usually).

I dunno. I prolly could say more, but I'll stop.

Same problem here.
I paid 0.99$ for one Martin Muursepp card and seller charged 6$ for overseas shipping.
Card arrived yesterday, it had 0.97$ stamp on it...

About 95% of the questions I get from buyers on my eBay auctions are from overseas buyers asking how much shipping is to their country. I check each country through the USPS website and it's amazing how many countries you can ship 1 or 2 cards to for under 2.00 - I can ship a fairly thick jersey card in the US for 63 cents and that same card to Canada is only 85 cents. I've been charging 2.00 shipping for years. The term "handling" is such a gray area. It seems that sellers can pretty much charge what they want as long as they list it is shipping AND handling.

ZYPS-
I feel for you. I'm sure you have many horror stories on what you pay in shipping costs. A 2 ounce air-mail package to Estonia is only 1.65 - Factoring in what I pay for bubble mailers and packaging, I still would only bump it maybe 25 cents.

I know through paypal anything under 5 ounces shipped is around $1.20. I sold 50 lots of press pass football and charged $2.00 per auction (bubble mailer w/DC) any more than $3.00 and your getting ripped off in my opinion excluding added price for insurance.
