Not sure if this counts, but i had a worst trade in my favor. In 1996 I traded my 96 Ultra Ryan Leaf RC for a 1996 Kobe Bryant Finest RC. I sent the Bryant to get graded and it came back a PSA 10, sold it for $225, and you all know the history on Leaf.
|
Leaf was not a rookie until 1998.....

My worst trade ever..$12 a month storage unit for nothing!!!
$12 a month storage unit in texas when we moved to colorado in 1983.
I was 15 and did not think anything would happen.
what was in storage...BB rookies of AAron,Ruth,Mantle,Ryan,etc,etc..you get the picture..
what was in storage unit 6 months later?
Broken furniture, beer bottles and ripped up BB Rookies.
Yep,some drunks broke into the unit and damaged everything.Atleast they did'nt make any $ off the cards eather, they were to drunk to know what they had,but I did'nt get to sale them to pay for college eather
Storage unit $12
Damage worth $30,000+
Drunks damage ($30,000+ worth of BB cards, and nothing to show for it)...PRICELESS!!!

Ouch! Sherrill, in order to really take this story to the next level, you have to include a picture of the noose you were putting up in the garage after that one.

How 'bout this. About 2 years ago i traded an upper deck shaquille o'neal gu jersey card to a trader in europe for a john havlicek topps "tall cards" rookie card. His scan was kinda hazy but i took the chance and he even included a
willis reed tall card and marcus fizer gu floor. To my surprise the havlicek card was not in good shape cornerwise and the back has an X marked in ink on the card number. So I pmed the guy about it and he said if the card had perfect corners ,it would be worth a lot of money. That is beside the point, I traded a good shaq Gu for a not so perfect card. Worse thing is I looked at ebay and found a lot of Havlicek tall cards rc for less than $50. So I just charged it to experience and said to myself u win some u lose some. I've done some other trades with other traders from europe and they went well. Moral of the
story: do the research first before u do the trade, in the end both parties have a wonderful trading experience. Happy Trading to everyone!!

also always keep small valuable things in safety deposit boxes or a safe.it's also safer to keep the valuable cards in a box beside ur bed right next to a very large basesall bat.

Good ideas!
I used to keep my valuable cards in a safety deposit box, but I bought a nice safe from Sam's Club about 4 years ago so I'd have access to my high priced PC whenever I want (plus, I do have it hidden in my house; only I know where it is at)...now I need a bigger one, for it filled up quick.
...I do need to go buy a bat now. nice info!
