Not sure if this counts, but i had a worst trade in my favor. In 1996 I traded my 96 Ultra Ryan Leaf RC for a 1996 Kobe Bryant Finest RC. I sent the Bryant to get graded and it came back a PSA 10, sold it for $225, and you all know the history on Leaf.

and I know BK's story and all i can say is its an OUCH!!!

As for me, ironically you would think this would have kept me out of the hobby but my very first trade on another site went bad. Sent me end and he received and I never got a thing. the Guy got banned and never heard from him again. It wasnt anything big(well it was to me since i had just started up again and had yet to discover game used) so a couple of decent booking GU for a couple others than never showed. Luckily in the wake of that bad trade have made probably 200 since then and none have gone wrong.

ricky williams first year with the dolphins i traded on perspective thinking he is doing so well that all his cards are going way up!
i traded a ton of gused and autos for these!
i still have them and am pondering burning them in effigy!LOL
Thanks for the retirement then the comeback and the failed drug tests ricky!

Wow. There have been some doozies here.

My worst was almost identical to BravesFan4Life's.
My first online trade was in early '01 I believe, and the person I traded with stole my cards. The card i traded was one of my only G/U, and there was some other cards with it. After this, I was going to quit trading online, but found that other people were in the same situation as me (involving the same thief). From there, I talked with some people, and was easily convinced to join Scooby (TR in the old days) where trades were easily made with no complaints...never had a problem since, and I love trading online!

...I have had other trades that most people would regret, but the cards I ended up with are all in my PC, so it doesn't bug me. Win some, lose some. Trade a $25 card that is now worth $250...and get a $25 card for my PC. However, the opposite happens too; trade a $5 RC for a $5 RC, and soon it becomes a nice $80 for the collection.

It hurts when you look back at some, but at the time of the trade, all that matters is my PC, and for me, it is still all that matters (I guess it's the only way for me to cope with a big loss...haha).

It also reminds me of trades I made with my little sister back in the late 80s/early 90s. I woud get those "Saved By the Bell", "Batman Forever", etc. base cards and trade them to my sister for every RC and star card she had. I was a smooth talker back in the day

Here is my worst. Haven't collected much over the last ten years or so. I would buy a pack here and there. Well I bough a pack of press pass football back i believe in 2000. I got a Tom Brady AUTO. I'm thinking to myself. TOM BRADY? He 's Drew Bledsoes back up??? So my cousin trades me a topps and upper deck Kobe Bryant RC for them. I thought I was ripping him off. LOL

WORST/STUPIDIST TRADE EVER (at least in my eyes)!!!

Back in November of 2001, I bought a few packs of 2001 Bowman Chrome in a local 7-Eleven for $2.99 a pack. Out of the 3 packs I bought, I pulled a redemption card for a player named Albert Pujols. He was an up and coming rookie back then. I sent in the redemption to Topps and I received the card in about 6 weeks (fastest turnaround I've ever seen in redemption history).

Upon receiving it, a friend of mine and myself went to a local card show. We waited about a half hour before the doors opened, so I decided to open my mail there. To my surprise, this card wasn't just a card of Albert Pujols, but it was an AUTOGRAPHED card #erd/500 of Albert Pujols!!!! The redemption card probably said what it was for, but since it was my first ever redemption pulled, I just thought it was for a regular card. It had a ding on one of the corners, but back then, I never realized that card companies replace damaged cards.

Once the doors of the show opened, we went browsing around and bought some more packs and supplies. We approached a dealer who had a 'will buy/trade' sign at his table. So I decided to see what the dealer would give me in trade. I was pretty surprised when he let me know the BV, but more surprised that a brand new card actually booked that high (I think he said $500 or $600).

He said, look around and let him know what I was interested in.

Well, to make a long and depressing story short, I picked out 4 decent cards (or so I thought): a 1999 Upper Deck game used bat card of McGwire, a 2000 Greats jersey card of Mattingly, a 1985 Topps McGwire rookie and a 1993 Topps Jeter rookie. I also gave the dealer $20 cash towards the deal.

From what I remember those 4 cards booked for $450 combined back then and now they book at $340 combined.

So overall, I still have 3 out of the 4 cards and no Pujols.
The Pujols books at $2500-$3000 and they sell for that ungraded and probably close to it, with a dinged corner.

I guess the overall motive of my ramblings is, ALWAYS HOLD ONTO THOSE AUTOGRAPHED PROSPECT CARDS A BIT LONGER THAN A FEW MONTHS AS YOU JUST NEVER KNOW!!!

You always have to remember that this is a hobby and that you make yourself happy with the deal you agree to and I was more than happy at the time.

Looking back, I feel so dumb. I had a thin book of about 20 autos. There was only a couple superstars such as Magic Johnson. My mom had given it to me for my birthday. Eventually I would trade all of them for a dumb video game.
My mom never new. And she still doesn't know to this very day.
