BING-go! Through the mail autograph request! (long read)

The more recent followers/collectors of basketball do not know nor remember who he is.

Dave Bing is a Hall of Famer, Named Rookie of the Year in 1968-67 season, Led the league in scoring in his Sophomore Season, and a 1976 All-Star MVP. He averaged 20.3 points a game in his stellar career.

He nor Pete Maravich ever signed a certified trading card. We all know of Pistol Pete's untimely passing. A board member kindly showed me how to obtain autograph request through the mail,and I decided to send a letter along with some cards for Mr. Bing to sign.

This is up there with my most prized possessions. I just wanted to share this experience. Thanks.

Wow, that's really really nice! Unfortunatly he was done playing before I was born, IIRC (84) I have seen him on Classic Sports...err...ESPN Classic and whatnot. I've got upwards of 20 cards of him myself. I have an extra 76-77 Topps of him, maybe I should send it to him? I don't have an address though.

I've only attempted 1 through the mail autograph request, in 1996 to Rik Smits, and got nothing in return. Kinda a bummer, as I'm from the same area as his alma matter (Marist, where my mom is currently a student) and he was my #1 favorite player at the time.

Next year when I go to Toledo, I'm going to remember to bring my extra 76-77 Topps of Steve Mix and try and get his autograph. He apparenty runs a Basketball program of some sort, right behind the motel is "Steve Mix Basketball". I'm assuming that's as good a place as any to find him.

As you may or may not know, he not only went to Collego in Toledo, he was born there.

I haven't had success with any NBA players but I hear Willis Reed,Andre Miller and Gilbert Arenas are great signers
