Default A selfless act by a superstar? Could it actually be true

Chipper Jones fans enjoy...Owens fans, you might want to leave.

Over the years its seemed unreal to me, that A-Rod could sign a 250 million dollar contract with the Rangers, who finished in last place, wouldnt offer to give up some $ to help out the team. Maybe its because its an Atlanta Braves player, my favorite player that Im only pleased with an athlete being an actual team player. But Chipper Jones has offered to restructure his contract with the Braves. When I read that the restructuring of his contract could help the Braves save 31 million dollars over the next 3 years I was surprised. That a superstar such as Chipper would do that...in a sport that seems to be driven by money and greed. Im not mentioning this because its the Braves or Chipper, but that sadly is rare to see self-less acts in sports these days.
( T.O. take notes )

Terrell Owens fans....read at own risk.

That stars like T.O. need more money because 45 million...well thats just not enough to own a house in every state in America...i feel terrible for him... I hope Terrell Owens never plays in the NFL again. He says he sorry, but did anyone actualy believe him? His agent is a scum bag and so is he.

No one had anything good to say about Ricky Williams when he walked away from the game ( including me that s.o.b. ) ... well what T.O. did is the same isnt it? Or is it worse? Ricky never bagged on his QB, wish he had Brett Favre on his team, he walked away...much like the ever so popular Barry Sanders.

Terrell Owens should go have a talk with Chipper Jones, and ask him how it feels to have a championship ring...be so well liked, be a leader on his team, and by leader I mean...leading your team to the playoffs...NOT leading them into the ground. If the NFL players union wins the appeal and T.O. is reinstated to the Eagles I would play him...one play and have McNabb leave him out to dry. Well now Im just rambling on because I hate Owens and he's the kind of player that ruins a sport. ESPN has turned into Terrell Owens TV, and nothing said is ever good about him. Fighting his team mates, ripping the QB and real leader of the team, and the orginization itself. Owens is a disgrace to the NFL.

Its just good to see an athlete do something like that. Even though it doesnt seem like a huge deal to alot of people, its just nice to see that... I have a whole new respect for Chipper Jones.

The Braves are my favorite team and I use to have a huge collection of Chipper Jones but I would think that he felt some sort of pressure from the Braves to restructure his contract after the last two seasons he's had.

That I also agree with...but its almost always when an athlete has a good season he wants more money. When athletes have sub par performances ( even though he was injured and still put up good #s ) you dont see to many athletes saying the deserve a pay cut.

Also I really think he wants to stay in Atlanta. I see this sort of as a "you scratch my back, I'll scratch your back" type of deal to keep Chipper in a Braves uni until he retires. I just can't see Chipper playing for any other team but I said the same thing about Glavine.

I said that same thing... I would hate to see Chipper play anywhere else. I also said the same thing about Glavine...and Greg Maddux...and Javy Lopez... they cant let chipper get away.

He is a true team player, he restructured to get Hudson last year and he wants Furcal to stay so he is doing it once again. You cannot blame his injuries in forcing him to restructure due to management pressure, sometimes you get hurt not a lot you can do. Hopefully they can resign Furcal and pick up some pitching. Ive been waiting 10 years for their next WS title and since they get to the playoffs so often its murder to watch them lose(specially that 96 WS ), yes its not like a Cubs fan since they have waited longer but the Cubs have consistantly sucked over the years lol.

Agreed, and I think the Braves should just win the wild card. Division titles arent doin much for them anymore. Looks like the Mets are trying to take care of that lol, they just picked up Delgado. Lets hope they dont get Wagner.

Well they got Wagner but look at the Yankees, barely won the division and got bounced. The Braves are still going to have a shot at it because the marlins, phillies and nationals are going to be nothing. If they can at least do something with their bullpen and maybe get another starter they have a chance. The Mets have decent starting pitching and now a hammer in Wagner but Wagner, Glavine, Pedro are all getting on in years, injuries might creep in
