A Cut Above the Rest: Sportkings Series B


When history is written about Sportkings Series B many things will be remembered.

Pele game-used memorabilia and autographs, reduced numbers of memorabilia cards, three packs per box and many other new features.

One of the most memorable features of Series B will be the Cut Signatures. There a six different Cut Signature Insert Sets; Founding Fathers, Presidents and Players, Vintage Papercuts, Sportkings at the Movies, Papercuts and 1933 The Year.

Founding Fathers

The Founding Fathers Cut Signature Set honors the men who founded many of today's sports. Basketball, Football, Baseball, Weightlifting, Boxing and NASCAR. Rare signatures of Marquis de Queensberry, Eugen Sanow, James Naismith, and more.

Presidents and Players

Theodore Roosevelt 1901 Presidents and Players Card


The President and Players Cut Signature Insert set features two different cards from each Presidential Term.
The Checklist includes; 1952 Dwight D. Eisenhower and Roy Campanella, 1901 Theodore Roosevelt and Cy Young.
There are 24 different cards in this Cut Signature Insert set.

Vintage Papercuts

Bill Tilden - Vintage Papercuts Card


Series B continues on the tradition of Series A. There are eight more Vintage Papercuts in Series B. These are cut signatures of athletes who were in the 1933 Goudey Sport Kings set including; Robert Jones, Jr. Eddie Shore, Jack Dempsey, Babe Dickerson and more.

Sportkings at the Movies

Boxer Jack Johnson "The Great White Hope" Card


Sport Kings have been featured in movies since the turn of the century. This insert set features cut signatures of both athletes and actors portraying them. Athletes like Jack Johnson in The Great White Hope, Roger Maris in 61 and many more. Actors being featured are Gary Cooper in Pride of the Yankees, Tommy Lee Jones in Cobb and Errol Flynn in Gentleman Jim to name a few.

Papercuts

The Cinderella Man - James Braddock Papercuts Card


Papercuts is another of the Cut Signature Insert Sets that are a holdover from Series A. Some the Sport Kings featured in this insert set include; Ben Hogan, Payne Stewart, Arthur Ash, James Braddock and Sonja Henie.

1933 The Year

Franklin D. Roosevelt President in 1933



1933 was the year Sport Kings gum cards made their debut. There many other events that defined that year. This Cut Signature Insert set commemorates some of them. Cards include: Franklin D. Roosevelt - The President; Albert Einstein - Arrives in the US; Frances Perkins - First Female Member of Cabinet; Irving Berlin - Writes Easter Parade, and many more.
