Default Part Two of a Baseball Classic

Collectors Face a Loaded Lineup with 2008 Upper Deck Series Two Baseball

Series Two content includes USA Baseball, the new ‘Hillary’ card, Presidential Cut Signatures, Yankee Stadium Legacy inserts, new rookies, and more surprises

North Las Vegas, NV (May 30, 2008) – Following up on the stellar success of 2008 Upper Deck Series One Baseball, early exit polls show that 2008 Upper Deck Series Two Baseball will be even more exciting for collectors. The biggest focus was to develop content that would appeal to all levels of collectors and sports fans. The result is an obvious victory on all fronts.

Set collectors will be excited to see a large offering of 400 total cards, complete with new rookies and updated images of players who changed teams. Kids will enjoy the continuation of the “Starquest” insert set as they can register the codes on the backs of the cards to win points and prizes through Upper Deck Kids - Home!.

The group of collectors with the most to be excited about are the prospectors. In 2008 Upper Deck Series Two Baseball, prospect collectors will get their fill of exciting USA Baseball talent. Upper Deck has the exclusive license for USA Baseball, which means for collectors this is their first chance to own cards of these future stars through a core MLB release.

For the collectors who like a little more challenge in terms of putting together a set, there is a great opportunity to chase the enormous “Yankee Stadium Legacy” insert set. This set chronicles every single Yankees home game that has ever taken place at Yankee Stadium which is significant as the “Bronx Bombers” finish up their final season there this year. Besides chasing the gigantic 6,661 card set, collectors can also find rare game-used memorabilia versions of Yankee Stadium Legacy cards and exciting game-used and autograph buy-back cards of Yankee greats. For more information on this promotion, visit Yankee Stadium Legacy.

Upper Deck is continuing to document this historic political race in a fun and educational way through its new “Presidential Predictor” card set. In Series One Baseball, collectors could find caricatures of candidates tied to famous players and moments in baseball history. In Series Two Baseball, it’s time to talk about the issues and Upper Deck has done that by pitting candidates in famous baseball conflicts while also speaking to their respective positions on subjects like healthcare, the war in Iraq, and the economy. Lucky collectors will also find the new “Hillary” card where Clinton is shown lifting Barack Obama in celebration. With such a close race, Upper Deck also produced a version of Obama lifting Clinton.

“We had the version of Obama lifting Clinton pulled as it became clear Barack would be the victor,” said Jason Masherah, Baseball Brand manager for Upper Deck. “Pulling these cards is a process done by hand so it is very possible some of these cards may make their way into packs. Those cards are considered an error version.”

Additionally, high-end collectors will be excited to find rare “Signs of History” exchange cards. These are good for extremely rare cut signature autograph cards of former U.S. Presidents at random. Some collectors will actually receive dual or quad-signed cards as well. Autographs have been secured and these cards are ready to begin shipping in June for those lucky enough to register them.

“It was critical for us to live up to the lofty expectations collectors had after the success of Series One Baseball, and I believe we will exceed their expectations this time around,” said Steven Judd, Baseball Product manager for Upper Deck. “The bottom line is that whether you’re a casual fan or hardcore collector, 2008 Upper Deck Series Two Baseball is just a fun product to open. The USA Baseball content features some fantastic prospects so this is the type of product collectors will come back to over the years as many of these young stars begin to take off. Additionally, we’ve incorporated some other surprises that will have collectors talking about this product over the next several months.”

Hobby packs of 2008 Upper Deck Series Two Baseball carry a suggested retail price of $4.99 per twenty-card pack. Collectors can expect to find one memorabilia card and two autograph cards in each hobby box on average. The product is available in stores now.
