Default Upper Deck Unveils an Ultimate End to the NHL Season

The luxurious 2007-08 NHL Ultimate Collection delivers high-end excitement for collectors

North Las Vegas, NV (May 8, 2008) – As the NHL’s conference finals get ready to begin, hockey fans are finding another reason to cheer this season. Upper Deck has released 2007-08 NHL Ultimate Collection, the super-premium release that takes card collecting to new levels with limited-edition autographed and game-used cards of the game’s best and brightest.

Collectors will find at least one autograph, memorabilia and rookie card in every four-card pack, but that’s just the beginning. The real excitement starts with some of the chase elements incorporated in the set for rare signed jersey and patch cards, oversized game-used patch cards, as well as multi-player patch and signed cards. Collectors who are looking to add something very special to their hockey collection need to look no further than Ultimate Collection.

The other chase aspect to the set surrounds the autograph rookie cards. The majority are limited to just 399, but a group of six of them are short-printed to just 99 versions. Players appearing in that short-printed group include Jonathan Toews (Blackhawks), Carey Price (Canadiens), Nicklas Backstrom (Capitals), Peter Mueller (Coyotes), Jiri Tlusty (Maple Leafs) and Patrick Kane (Blackhawks).

“It’s always fun to open packs of Ultimate Collection Hockey, but with this year’s rookie crop, it’s a real thrill ride to see which player you’ll get,” said Karvin Cheung, Upper Deck’s Hockey product manager. “It’s not uncommon to see the hands of collectors shake when they’re opening a product like this. With the prospect of opening a pack to receive a piece of history in the form of a signature or rare game-used patch card, it’s understandable. Add in one of the deepest rookie classes in years and you have a clear-cut winner.”

Collectors can find 2007-08 NHL Ultimate Collection in stores now. The product carries a suggested retail price of $100 per four-card pack.
