Each six-pack box yields 14 autograph or memorabilia cards on average
Carlsbad, CA – (April 25, 2008) – Consumers spending more and getting less these days, so it’s refreshing to see a large manufacturer like Upper Deck cutting production on its products to enhance the value with collectors while it delivers more sought-after content. The recent release of 2007-08 NBA SP Rookie Threads gives collectors who like high-end products an easier time at the cash register as well since each six-card pack carries a $50 SRP.
Upper Deck announced in late February production would be cut on all NBA products across the board for the remainder of the year. The release of 2007-08 NBA SP Rookie Threads was cut so significantly, Upper Deck was able to serial number every case and produce just 599 total cases. By limiting production, Upper Deck was able to make sure collectors got better content and improve its investment potential since there will be so little of it in the market.
Upper Deck is all about innovation and incorporating new technology in trading card releases. In 2007-08 NBA SP Rookie Threads collectors have the opportunity to find some of the most unique rookie cards of the year in the “Signature Threads” rookie subset. These rookie cards are memorabilia cards printed on PETG that are signed and then serial numbered. The look of the cards with the signature over the die-cut “07” memorabilia pieces will likely make these rookie cards even more collectible.
“For collectors who say that they just want to open a pack and get something good, 2007-08 NBA SP Rookie Threads is for them,” said Bill Beaman, Upper Deck’s Basketball product manager. “Collectors can get some very cool cards at the pack level and tremendous value and excitement at the box level.
“We have been blessed to have an exclusive partnership with rookie spokesmen like Kevin Durant and Al Horford this year as they have performed great on the court and in the hobby. Collectors will definitely have the opportunity to add more autograph rookie cards of these types of players with 2007-08 NBA SP Rookie Threads.”
Upper Deck’s 2007-08 NBA SP Rookie Threads is now live in stores.
