(May 2, 2007) - Grabbing a near unanimous victory for top honors, Portland Trailblazers guard Brandon Roy garnered 127 of 128 possible points to win the 2006-2007 NBA Rookie of the Year Award on Wednesday. Roy entered into an exclusive autograph deal with Upper Deck prior to his first season.
"This is the second year in a row where we have had one of our guys named Rookie of the Year, last year it was Chris Paul, and this year Brandon Roy," said Bill Beaman, associate basketball product manager Upper Deck. The sixth overall pick a year ago, Roy led all rookies with averages of 16.8 points, 4.0 assists and 35.4 minutes in 57 games. Roy's contributions showed up in the standings as he guided his Trailblazers to 11 more wins than the previous season.
