Here's what we pulled in our box of 2010 Press Pass Showcase Racing.

Base / Parallel / Insert Cards;

Sweet design and foilboard technology, make this a premium, high-quality set. The scans really don't do the cards justice as the foilboard makes them look darker than what they really are. Everything is easy to read on the front and the back, except for the Racings Finest plastic inserts. It's hard to read the back of these cards, but not impossible. The base we pulled are of Scott Speed, Kurt Busch, Denny Hamlin and Kasey Kahne. Also, in base we pulled a Classic Collections card of Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick and Jeff Burton of Richard Childress Racing. Two more cards from a base sub-set include Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick. These are numbered out of /499 as well and are Elite Exhibit cards. These cards are made on silver foil (these are 1st gear cards).

Every card is of the high-quality you would expect from a high-end product. The low-numbered 3rd and 4th gear parallel cards are really something special and add a lot to the product.

The parallels and Inserts we pulled in the box are as follows;
  • Greg Biffle - /50 - 3rd gear green foil
  • Scott Speed - /15 - 4th gear melting foil
  • Tony Stewart - /15 - 4th gear melting foil Elite Exhibit
  • Racing's Finest Inserts of Jimmie Johnson and Mario Andretti /499

Race-Used Cards;

2010 Press Pass Showcase Racing offers two race-used cards per box. We weren't dissapointed in the pulls we had at all. First of was a Dale Earnhardt JR. "Elite Exhibit" card featuring triple race-used memorabilia. The card is a 1st gear version of the card and is numbered /99. The pieces on the card are sheet metal (red), seat (black) and a piece of firesuit (white). A very well crafted and laid out card to say the least. The break actually gets better from here, if you can believe it.

The second race-used is a quad sheet metal of high-profile drivers from the circuit. First is Jeff Gordon (red), Jimmie Johnson (black,white,red and gray), Mark Martin (black and gray) and lastly, Tony Stewart (black and red). This piece is from the "Classic Collections" set. Another superbly laid out and designed card from Press Pass.

These are some of the best used memorabilia I have seen from any sport that we have reviewed to date.

Autographed Card;

We were looking forward to the autograph pack at this point, which happened to be the last pack. Again, we were amazed at the pull we had. It was a quad autographed card of Kasey Kahne, Elliott Sadler, Al Allmendinger and Paul Menard. This is the silver foil version numbered out of /15 (no stickers here) and is a plastic style card. All of the autographs are on card which is always a plus. A nice low-numbered quad autograph of some great racing drivers.

Final Thoughts on 2010 Press Pass Showcase Racing;

2010 Press Pass Showcase Racing will be a bit pricey for most people, but if you are a racing fanatic, you may want to try a box and test your luck. The race-used are some of the best that I have in any sport. The triple Dale Earnhardt JR. along with the quad of Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin and Tony Stewart more than made this box alot of fun to open. The quad autographed card really topped off the box nicely. Would I have like to have pulled a Danicka Patrick...sure, but this was a quality box all of the way around in my opinion. The low-numbered parallels were also a big hit with me, the 4th gear parallels look fantastic in hand.

It would take a lot to complete the 51 card base set. The best way would be to get a start and trade for the remainder you need.

These boxes can usually be had for between $192 and $240 on most sites that I have checked. The $192 was on ebay and was a good buy at that price point, as they usually go for around $210.

Here's how I would rate this product, based on what we experienced during the break;
  • Value = 4
  • Innovation = 5
  • Fun and Experience = 5
  • Rebuy Value = 4
I rate this product an "A" for Press Pass!

Love the showcase this year! I enjoy the leveling of 5 gear base set and phenomenal multi-colored sheet metal pieces. I have purchased MANY cards from this set and still have many more to add into my collection! Great job Press Pass!

Press Pass did great with this set! I like the dark backgrounds and the sleek look. Some NASCAR products are just to gaudy but these are excellent.
