Default Quick Contest: NCAA Stock Market

This is more of a quick discussion contest than a win-a-prize contest, but there is a prize for the winner!

So, most of us have probably been watching ESPN over the last week, and they just love talking about the stock of college players during the tournament. Normally, this is great, but every single one has said the same thing! On the rise: Tyrus Thomas, Glen Davis, Joakim Noah; On the Fall: Lamarcus Aldridge, Adam Morrison, JJ Reddick.

So here's the contest... Many more players have made and broken their draft stock during the tournament, even if their team isnt in the final four. So, name a player who's stock has risen and a player who's stock has fallen. DO NOT NAME ANY OF THE SIX LISTED ABOVE! Of course, provide your reasoning. Precise stats arent needed, guestimates are fine.

The winner will receive a 04-05 Bowman Luol Deng/Grant Hill Dual Jersey BV$30. They of course both went to Duke, one of the tournament mainstays.

(Anybody who answers Ryan Hollins gets extra credit lol)

The guy that I think improved his stock big time, even though they lost to UCONN, is Brandon Roy from Washington. I'm a huge college basketball fan and I knew hardly nothing about Roy before the tourney. Probably because his team plays so late and that most of the Washington games are shown on FSN and I hate watching games on FSN. He is a complete player that got to show all of America just how much he can do. He reminds me a lot of Shawn Marion.

Even though he had solid numbers in the tourney I think Rudy Gay MAY HAVE hurt his chances at a top pick. May have are the key words because his stock was probably so high before the tourney that a little drop off wouldn't hurt him. To me he looked a little lost on the court in the two games I watched of UCONN.

Bobby Perry from Kentucky went from a no-name to a star in two games. He scored 20 against UAB in the opening round and 25 against UConn in the second round.

Now, we need to talk about this Duke junk here. Mainstay??? How bout CHOKE-JOB. Lost in the Sweet 16 in four of the last five years. The Chevy, American Express, ESPN and Duke University would like to thank you for your support of the program and Coach K!

The guy that impressed me the most and his stock has to be rising is Brandon Roy from Washington. He looked like he was on another level against UConn before they called the technical foul on him. His game is so smooth and he makes everything look easy. He's a great all around player.

A guy who's stock is falling, not only in the tournament, but consistently as the year has gone on, is Paul Davis from Michigan State. He was dominant early in the year, but late in the year he looked to passive and sometimes he just looks slow. He seems to get himself into foul trouble a lot, which probably has something to do with him being passive. I'm not just saying all this because I'm a Michigan fan either, because I think Shannon Brown, another MSU player, is one of the best and most underrated players in the country.

Falling:
Josh McRoberts, I think he may have been a lottery pick before the tourney but I think many of his weaknesses were exposed. My guess is NBA talent evaluators will tell him to stay another year to hone his skills.

Josh Boone & Hilton Armstrong- Both had poor tourney performances with the exception of the Washington game, they also seemed to disappear in the final minutes...

Maybe the biggest fall of em all- Daniel Gibson- Some had him as a top 3 pick at the beginning of the year, now they are telling him to stay in school as he may not even crack the first round.

Rising:

This one is a no brainer for me- Patrick O'Bryant, This guy has made a huge leap in the past two years. He came to Bradley as a 2 star recruit and anyone outside of Peoria wouldn't have heard of him prior to this year. Now they are talking about a potential lottery pick. It's amazing, the guy played high school ball 10 minutes from the University of Minnesota and they didn't do so much as to offer him a scholarship...2 years later he may be a lotto pick.

Kevin Pittsnogle- may have shot his way from a mid-second rounder to a late first rounder.

Marcus Williams- I love watching him play, got them back in the game against both Albany and George Mason...will make a great NBA point guard one day.

I'm not interested in winning the prize but I'd say that Roy, O'Bryant, Marcus Willaims & Mike Gansey from WV would be risers in my books. Randy Foye also comes to mind.

I didn't think Rudy Gay from UConn did anything to help himself. He didn't look like a lottery pick to me.
Mason's wide load Jai Lewis may have helped himself in the draft, although it is more likely the NFL draft. florida's Humphrey may have got himself drafted with some hot 3 pt shooting.
