BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik required lifesaving surgery after severing his carotid artery, his agent told The Associated Press on Monday.

that is really scary, I first heard about it this morning but no details were giving so didnt know how serious it really was. those skate blades are so sharp

I just watched it on Youtube. All I can say is WOW. Ive seen people with less of a cut die from the injury. God had to be with him that day

Which is why TSN is terrible.
This was nothing like the Clint Malarchuk occurrence. Clint was a goaltender, Richard was a forward. No one noticed Clint, because he just stayed low and behind the play; Richard was noticed off the bat and had the state of mind to skate to the bench. Nothing was similar other than Buffalo taking part in the game and the color of the blood that came out. Clearly Richard Zednik was the smarter of the two, and more recognized.
