Where will the hockey card market be in 5 years?

Where will the hockey card market be in 5 years? It is tough for me to say. In my mind, the hockey market is one of the few sports where the cards retain their value, at least a decent rate. It seems that companies don't overload autos and whatnot nearly as much as in baseball. If you look at Roy or Sakic autos compared to Bonds or Helton autos, you can see that Bonds and Helton have probably like 5 times more autos produced. In 5 years, I am thinking companies will begin to produce more and more and the market will become flooded.

i find hockey an odd market. You find all of crosbys rookies booking way high, despite the fact so many companies are there to produce his cards. Then you have some star player autos (like from ultimate collection, which isnt a cheap product) selling for $5.

I agree. But look at Roy autos and whatnot, look at the number produced as opposed to Bonds, or Vince Young, or Kobe.

I think that's exactly it, hockey just isn't produced at the rate of the other sports (at least baseball, football), so that tends to bode well when there is a surge in interest in hockey, less availability, more people searching for cards. I'm often surprised what even older issues from the 90's go for sometimes in the hockey market, often more than I'd think of paying for it..
