Hockey Weekend Across America

The local rink here had events for kids, along with all the games in a tournament.

Took the kids over for skating and puck shooting, they got to put on all the gear and take their best shot.

USA hockey also provided refreshments and there were players from CU, DU and the local high school team on hand to assist the kids and sign autographs and talk about the game.

Did your local rink have any events for this, if so, what?

Wish I new but was just getting back from Florida. Hockey is big here in Michigan so would imagine events were planned all weekend but not being around for the week I missed everything in the newspaper and news. It is good to see Hockey getting some positive news in the way of Hockey in America. I am pretty sure Canada had it annual Hockey day in Canada on Saturday as well with three games on CBC.

I am shocked Wisconsin didn't do anything for this. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan are big areas for youth hockey!!! There are other states as well but many U.S. born players are coming from these these States either youth or College.

Yeah, the Hockey Day in Canada gets lots of attention, so that's why this stood out for me this year. Hopefully this will continue in the coming years.

It would be great if area can continue growing hockey players that didnt in the past. I know youth hockey has become huge in Columbus Ohio since the Jackets play there....I can't speak for Dallas but heard lots of kids are playing hockey down there--maybe over time this will gain momentum.
