Default Online Poker

It was fun while it lasted, the Republicans just passed a bill pretty much doing away with it. If you were like me and it was a fun way to pass time you are SOL. The new bill will make it illegal to fund any online account that includes gambling.

PartyPoker has already said it will be pulling the site from the US market in response to this bill.

For a party who thinks goverment should stay out of our lives they sure are spending alot of time telling us what we can and can not do

I can't imagine anyone defending this. I'll never understand why gambling is illegal. It's only legal when the government can make a nice chuck of change off it. Total BS.

Here in Jersey, the casinos in Atlantic City were exempt from the statewide indoor smoking ban. Gee, I wonder why? The ban itself is completely ludacris anyway. All the scientific studies have proven secondhand smoke to be harmless, but the anti-smoking propaganda machine doesn't care about the facts, or people's rights.

Thing that Urks me is that they put it in the Port security bill so they knew that no democrat could vote against it or the republicans would cry that they were voting against our safety.. It's a joke I guess 1 of 2 things happened

1.Casinos gave more money to politicians because they were losing business
2.The online gaming sites didn't give enough money to the politicians

Guess partypoker(which has said they will be pulling their poker site from the US).. Should have hired a better lobbiest.. In the last 5 years it's been about the money the laws passed have helped Insurance companies, Drug Companies, Credit card companies, Oil Companies, Gas Companies, and in turn taken away things we enjoy like online gambling, freedom to talk on phone without being listened to, freedom of a fair trial, and about 1/2 the freedoms our constitution grants us.. God I cannot wait to see what the next couple of years bring I honestly see it getting worse probably to the point of our TV being censored or internet being censored.. I am getting a little tired of giving up things I enjoy GOD I hope there is a good independent running in a few years and not another Bush or Clinton

I play all the time on pokerstars for real money. And i emailed them about this and they said it doesnt effect their site for some reason i can upload the email from them if anyone is interested, but yeah im still playing on there and currently making a killing! But i do think its rediculous how they passed that bill. I know a few sites are down like partypoker. Why cant they just leave us alone and let us spend our money the way we want to.

I just love how the politicians try to justify voting for it. I'm paraphrasing here, but they say "Gambling is highly addictive and it destroys families." Of course, this could be a (somewhat) valid reason if the government didn't sponsor gambling itself via state-run lotteries. They can look the other way on the potential harms as long as they get their millions from the Pick 6 and scratch-off tickets. The more I think about this bill, the more I think it's about squandering competition for their own gambling enterprises than anything else.

Hence marijuana is illegal ..if it grows natural they cant tax it (like groceries arent taxed). Im not going to take sides on this debate, but that is the main reason its still illegal.

I figure some of the online gambling sites will open back up, with uncle sam taking their cut. But, they will be less profitable for both sides......

PS- I love your banner alonzomourning.. Im a big Angel fan. Charisma is hot

I agree, although they do tax the hell out of tobacco.

I agree.
They can tax tobacco because it has to be prepared....additives and filter what not. Fast food or other already prepared foods are taxed.
