I left off a lot, but those are the ones I felt like mentioning at the moment. They vary wildly. Wild Strawberries and The Usual Suspects are entirely different from one another...and neither are anything like 3-Iron. I could go on and on. They're all great in their own right, though (in my opinion, that is). Just a fair warning to say that just because you loved 5 or 6 movies on this list doesn't mean you'll love the rest.

If any of the movies listed peak your interest, but you have questions...just ask. I'll do my best of telling you before you seek it out whether it'll be your tempo or not. Just figured I'd try to get people to see a few great movies that they otherwise might not have.

You're not the only one who's bored, lol. I'd second these from your list:

American History X
Donnie Darko (EXTREMELY Underrated, a MUST See)
Fight Club
Office Space
Pulp Fiction
Se7en
Shawshank Redemption, The
Sin City
Usual Suspects, The

and add a few of my own:

American Psycho
Better Luck Tomorrow
Boiler Room
Chasing Amy
40-Year-Old Virgin
Good Will Hunting
One Hour Photo
Requiem for a Dream
Serenity
Thirteen

American Psycho - A great movie that cemented Christian Bale as a solid actor...something he went on to prove in "The Machinist." If you're a fan of Bale, you should see that movie. I didn't think the film itself was that great (horribly overrated, in my opinion), but his performance, and prep for the role, more than make up for it (he lost 80 lbs, wanted to lose 100 but the filmmakers wouldn't let him, fearing for his life if he did).

Better Luck Tomorrow - The only one on the list that I haven't seen yet.

Boiler Room - Solid, but not great (in my opinion). It's Vin Diesel's second best movie, with Saving Private Ryan taking the top spot. That's not saying all that much, though. It was a nice change of pace, as opposed to telling the same story everybody's seen a dozen times. It just didn't really do it for me. I got a chance to meet the director a month or two back, though...and he's a super nice guy, and really down to earth.

Chasing Amy - [b]I love Kevin Smith, but I find his humor less appealing than it was when I was younger (which is not to say that I don't still find him hilarious). This movie, unlike most of his others, actually has heart and great characters. Clerks is his best, in my opinion, but this one is a close second. Check out "An Evening with Kevin Smith" if you're a fan. It's one of the most entertaining DVDs money can buy. Seriously. See it.

40-Year-Old Virgin - In my opinion, it's the funniest movie of the past two or three years, save "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang."

Good Will Hunting - Amazing screenplay. Who knew Matt Damon and Ben Affleck had it in `em?

One Hour Photo - I'm not a huge fan of the movie, but Robin Williams was solid.

Requiem for a Dream - Depressingly authentic. It has an agenda, but it's one that I agree with...so I can excuse it. Others may not. With this and "Pi" under his belt, I can't wait to see what Darren Aronofsky does next.

Serenity - I thought it was great, though I may be a bit biased. I got a chance to see it early, with a couple of the stars in the audience (including Summer Glau, who played River). The location? Outside, under the stars, right in the middle of the amazingly authentic set that Disney built for 2004's "The Alamo." They could've screened "It's Pat," and I'd have had a blast. The movie was good enough to make me want to check out the Firefly series, though.

Thirteen - Another one that I'm biased on. My best friend's aunt wrote and directed it. I liked it, but I didn't think it was anything groundbreaking. I'd recommend it, but it could've been better.
Added my comments in bold...

You seconded a few of my higher recommendations. Go through and list the ones that you haven't yet seen. I think I have a pretty good idea of where your tastes lie, and if you haven't seen some of the ones I'm thinking of, I'll tell you which you'd adore.

Dukes of Hazard - I didn't like it all that much, either. There were a couple of amazingly funny moments, though (namely, the references to The Usual Suspects and Super Troopers) that had me rolling. Aside from those, and one or two other one-liners, I thought it was pretty lame.

Fantastic Four - Haven't seen it, and I'm in no hurry to. The great:horrible ratio for recent comic book movies has me really timid. X-Men series, Spider-Man series, Batman Begins, Elektra, Daredevil, The Hulk, Catwoman, Hellboy, Punisher, Sin City, Blade series, Constantine, Crow series, Fantastic Four. Some are great, but for the most part they're pretty "meh." This one looked like the latter.

Cinderella Man - One of the best of the year. I'm not a huge Ron Howard fan...a lot of his movies force sentimentality (this one was no exception), but something about this movie worked for me. I wish they would've released it this time of year instead of during the summer. It would've done so much better...
...same for yours; my comments in bold.

It's probably easier to list the ones I have seen since I haven't seen about half the list. My sister's got a NetFlix account so I can get any DVD for free.

25th Hour - Thought it was OK, Norton was good but that's about it. Spike Lee has made only one good movie in my opinion, Do the Right Thing.

Big Lebowski, The - I saw it 2-3 times, but never from beginning to end. I liked the parts I did see.

Citizen Kane - Saw it about a year ago on TCM I think; bored me to tears. Best movie ever made my ass.

Frailty - I found the plot to be kinda ridiculous. Interesting to see once, but that's enough for me.

Garden State - Absolutely despised this movie. Easily in my top 3 worst movies I have ever seen and I've seen three Pauly Shore movies (sadly).

Groundhog Day - I like this movie but wouldn't consider it a great one.

Hoop Dreams - Good movie I thought, but again just not great.

Memento - Very interesting but also very predictable. I've never guessed the ending (or beginning in this case) like 10 minutes in and been right before I saw this movie.

Reservoir Dogs - Same case as The Big Lebowski, I'll see the whole thing eventually.

Scarface - I saw the Al Pacino version; hated it. I just can't get into organized crime/mob movies.

Taxi Driver - Kinda good, held my interest all the way through, but nothing special.

To Kill a Mockingbird - Very good movie, but Peck's performance always bothers me for some reason. I know he won an Oscar for it, but he always seems cold to me.

Just to comment on some of your comments, I have seen "An Evening with Kevin Smith" and it is hilarious. The Prince story alone is worth watching it. Aronofsky is supposed to do an episode of "Lost" later this season. I don't care for the show, but maybe you or someone else here might. "Pi" was pretty good except the ending, which was really terrible. The Firefly series is a must see. Every episode is good, especially "Out of Gas," which is one of the best hours of television I have ever seen, along with about 2-3 dozen episodes of "Buffy" and "Angel." Joss Whedon's a creative genius.

I don't trade cards at "book value" anymore - those prices are ridiculous. I swap cards for the fun of it for my wants/needs to satisfy both traders.

Oy.

Some of the others that you didn't like I can see being hit or miss (Frailty, Garden State, 25th Hour). They were mild recommendations...movies that I think people should see at least once to form an opinion on, but ones that I don't necessarily consider great. However, if those six movies quoted above didn't do it for you...I wouldn't know where to start in recommending films.

I guess, see The Boondock Saints, Following, and Layer Cake. My list of recommendations was going to be a lot longer, but those are the ones that I think fall closest in line with the movies you seconded. After seeing that you didn't particularly like Kane, Scarface, or Taxi Driver, I'm scared to branch out beyond those (and almost scared to have recommended those that I just did). No promises, but I think you'll like them...and I think Layer Cake might change your mind about the whole cold feeling you have toward organized crime movies, as it's probably unlike any you've seen.

American History X----Good movie, a little over done IMO but good overall

Buffalo '66----Odd movie but thats that guy for you(i forget his name now for some reason)

Casino----Decent movie.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind----Liked this as well, just one of those dark comedies that is entertaining. Carrey is great in it

Fight Club---This movie is retarded beyond all belief. I like to change their first rule..."First rule of Fight Club is we suck "

Garden State----I really liked this movie. Portman does a great job at portraying the weird but uber hot girl next door. and I forget his real name but the main dude from Scrubs gave a great perf.

Office Space---Top 2 of my Favorite Movies of All Time...."I believe you have my stapler."

Rounders--I love poker so naturally I liked this movie quite a bit

Rules of Attraction, The---I like this movie because of the way the plot goes backwards, very different.

Shawshank Redemption, The---This is a great movie. I have probably seen it ten times. Thanks TBS

Movies not listed:
Sideways---This one jumped right into my top 3 after seeing it. Great great movie, the plot is good, just a very different comedy
40 Year Old Virgin---This movie I just really liked, Carrell was great in it.

there are others but my top 4 all time are:

1. Office Space
2a. Garden State
2b. Sideways
3a. 40 Year Old Virgin
3b. Shawshank Redemption

Hon Mention to the Evil Dead Series

Yep, I loved it too. It's not in my top-3, but I thought it was very good nonetheless.
