Default Movie recommendations?

I haven't had much free time this past year so I've missed a lot of the newer movies. I have some more time now and would like to start watching some of the better ones...lmk which you liked and recommend.

Ross
Here are a few of the ones I like from last 8 months

Comedy:
Meet The Fockers
Hitch(will smith)
The Pacifier(Vin Diesel)

Sport Flick:
Friday night Lights

Suspense:
The Forgotten
National Treasure

Horor..Stay away from "The House Of Wax" unless you like missing body parts.
the guy that made this movie needs ALOT of mental help.

Yes, see Lords of Dogtown. I want my best friend's aunt to keep getting work.

As for personal recommendations...ever since I made the move away from sports cards, I've adopted movies as a hobby with nearly as much fervor. As such, I can recommend what movies you should see like you can recommend what basketball cards somebody should buy. The possibilites are endless. It'd help if I knew your taste. What're some of your favorite movies?

I've seen a few you guys have recommended...

National Treasure- I thought it was alright, nothing special.

Meet the Fockers- I liked it a lot...one of the few sequels that has been as good or better than the first.

Friday Night Lights- Decent...

I also just saw Ocean's Twelve...thought it was awful. Alexander absolutely sucked too. I can't even remember the last great movie I've seen...

As far as what I typically like, I'm pretty open minded when it comes to movies. I'll watch anything...however, my favorites are generally comedy or action. pretty broad...I know. Anyways, I'm planning on ordering the blockbuster online pass sometime soon.

Hm, I'll toss out the following recommendations from 2004...

House of Flying Daggers (Martial Arts)
Man on Fire (Action/Drama)
Collateral (Action/Drama)
Sideways (Comedy/Drama)
Napoleon Dynamite (Comedy)
Garden State (Drama/Comedy)
Mean Creek (Drama)
The Assassination of Richard Nixon (Drama)
Eternal Sunshine (I don't know, but it's good)
Hotel Rwanda (Drama)
Primer (Sci-Fi)

Some warnings: House of Flying Daggers is subtitled, in case that scares you off. Primer is really low budget (I think it was made for $30,000 or so, all told) and it shows...not that it takes away from the movie, just know that it's the epitome of an independent film. If you like action movies, I think you'd like Collateral and Man on Fire the most of all of the movies listed above...though the others are all very good as well (and most of the others are, in my opinion, better than those two...but drama is my genre of choice).

I'll also say this, in case you've heard the critical acclaim and Oscar hype and become curious: don't see Million Dollar Baby.
