Default 2008 Leaf Certified Materials Football

2008 Leaf Certified Materials Football

Always a sweet release for Donruss every year. Nice quality middle of the road priced product.

Set Features;

Each sealed box contains 10 packs of 5 cards each in a 200 card set including 50 Rookies (#`d to 1500). >>> Each box contains FOUR Memorabilia and/or Autograph cards. Parallel sets: Mirror (5 variations > #`d to 100 or less; Autograph: 5 variations > #`d to 250 or less, Veteran Materials > #`d to 150 or less, and Rookie Autograph > #`d to 999). Inserts: Freshman Fabric (#`d to 599 or less; parallels > #`d to 250 or less), Immortals (#`d to 100; parallels > #`d to 50 or less), Fabric of the Game (#`d to 100 or less; Rookies > #`d to 250 or less), Certified Skills (#`d to 500 or less), Certified Potential (#`d to 500 or less), Gold Team (#`d to 1000; parallels > #`d to 250 or less), Souvenir Stamps (#`d to 50 or less), and Souvenir Signatures (#`d to 15 or less),

Here's what we pulled in our box of 2008 Leaf Certified Materials Football.

Base and Parallel Cards;

A very nice designed foil-backed set. The only things on the front of the cards is the player, players name and the Leaf Certified logo. There is also a team logo, but it blends into the silver at the bottom. A very neatly designed back with a short bio and players stats. The base card commons are from 1 to 150. The Braylon Edwards is a Certified skills and is numbered to 1000. The LaRon Landry is a Certified Skills Mirror and is numbered to /500. The Santonio Holmes we pulled is a Mirror Blue Serial #'d to /50.

Rookie Cards;

Exact same design as the base. The only difference is the rookie insignia behind the player on the top. The card is serial #d to /1500.

Game-Used Cards;

We pulled (3) Game-Used materials cards in our box.

The Game-used we pulled are...
  • Keith Rivers Fabric of the Game #d to 100(White)
  • Andre Caldwell Freshman Fabric #d to 100 (Brown)
  • Kevin O'Connell Souvenir Stamps #d to 25 (Blue)
All three cards are of nice quality!

Autographed Card;

We pulled (1) Autographed card in our box.

The autographed card is of Kevin Robinson of the Kansas City Chiefs. Kevin played college ball at Utah State University. The card is #d to /999. The autograph is K-Rob which I can guess is his nickname...better than just signing KR.

Final Thoughts on 2008 Leaf Certified Materials Football;

Leaf Certified Materials is always a very nice high-quality product from Donruss yearly. What a super product to follow 2008 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Football. I like the design, I like the Freshman Fabric and I like the Souvenir Stamps set the most. Something different like the stamp set usually catches my eye right off. These boxes can usually be had for between $68 and $79 on most sites that I have checked. If you can get them in the $65 range, it could be a good buy if you pull something HOT!!!

Here's how I would rate this product;
  • Value = 4.5
  • Innovation = 5
  • Fun and Experience = 5
  • Rebuy Value = 4
I rate this product an "A-" for Donruss! Even though we didn't pull something really great it was still a good box.

I went to the card store today and bought one of these. There is only one dealer up around me and he is an hour away and charges an arm and a leg. Box cost me $99 but i had to get my fix. However i was happy with my pulls.

Fabric of the Game: Donnie Avery 221/250
Freshman Fabric: Glenn Dorsey 006/599 (huge jersey)

Now it gets good

Souvenir Stamps: Dennis Dixon 3/5

and finally

Fabric of the Game jersey/auto of Bob Griese 1/1
