Here's what I pulled in our box of 2008 Topps Rookie Progression Football.

Base Cards and Parallels:

The look of these cards features the player in front of a green background on the front with their name and team's dominate color across the top. The back of the card features the players position, team, height, weight, birthdate, and draft position on the top and their 2007 stats on the bottom along with their career numbers. The middle of the back features a glimpse at the players career from rookie season through 2007. The parallels of the base cards features different colored backgrounds. The parallels from this box were: Steven Jackson #'d/389, Fred Taylor #'d/199, Kevin Walter #'d/389, and Amani Toomer #'d/389.

Rookie Cards and Parallels:

The look of the rookies are very similar to the base cards, with the exception being that they include the "Rookie Card" logo on them. The only thing somewhat disappointing is that the rookies do not feature what team drafted them but that is understandable since this is an early release product so it is not possible. The rookie parallels pulled were: Jerod Mayo #'d/299, Earl Bennett #'d/199, and Chevis Jackson #'d/299.

Insert Cards and Parallels:

There are three distinct inserts in this set: Progression Legend, Progression Veteran, and Progression Rookie. There are also numbered parallels to these inserts. Here are the inserts and parelles we pulled:
  • Progression Legend Roethlisberger #'d/199 & #'d/389
  • Progression Veteran Romo & T Owens
  • Progression Rookie Limas Sweed, Lawrence Jackson, Early Doucet, John David Booty, Eddie Royal, Erik Ainge, & Fred Davis #'d/299

Game-Used Cards:

The game used that were pulled from this box were Progression Rookie Erik Ainge jersey #'d/99 & Single Relic Yvenson Bernard jersey #'d/249.

Autographed Cards:

The autos that were pulled were John David Booty rookie parallel auto #'d/20 and Chris Johnson Single Signature auto. I really like the look of both of these signature cards. The Booty takes the base rookie one step closer with a nice signature and very low numberings. The Johnson is designed very well to draw the eyes away from the sticker, as a lot of sticker autos aren't this well designed.

Final Thoughts on 2008 Topps Rookie Progression Football:

We recommend this set to anyone who is a player collector, rookie collector, or set collector. Topps first release of the season was very solid with good looking base cards as well as the chance to get many numbered parllels. We received 0 duplicate cards and got the majority of the set from the box break. The autographed rookie cards are absolutely beautiful and exciting to pull.

Here's how I would rate this product:
  • Value = 4
  • Innovation = 4
  • Fun and Experience = 5
  • Rebuy Value = 4

I rate this product an "B+" for Topps!
