2007 Donruss Elite Football

2007 Donruss Elite Football – This very anticipated set continues this year with some of the hottest rookies from one of the greatest rookie classes to date.

Set Features;

Each sealed box contains 20 packs of 5 cards each in a 200 card base set including 100 Rookies (#`d to 599). >>> Each box contains TWO Rookie cards and TWO Memorabilia and/or Autograph cards. Parallel sets: Aspirations (#`d to 99 or less), Gold Status (#`d to 24), and Turn of the Century Rookie Signatures (#`d to 100 or less). Inserts: Prime Targets, Passing the Torch, Back to the Future, Elite Teams, Chain Reaction, Elite Series, College Ties, and Autographs (College Ties, Throwback Threads, Passing the Torch, Gold Status, and Black Status).

Here's what I pulled in our box of 2007 Donruss Elite Football.

Base Cards and Parallels;

I really like the foil board metallic-like background on the cards. A very nice new design featuring geometric designs with lines as the background for a nice action shot of the veteran player. The front of the cards has all of the pertinent information on the bottom of the card. Including team name, player name and Donruss Elite logo in the lower right hand corner. The back of the card has a short bio and complete player stats from the players' previous year in the NFL. Also, on the back is a small section that is sort of a synopsis of the year for the player. We were fortunate to pull a parallel of a new hot rookie from the past year in Vince Young. The card is from the Aspirations Die-Cut parallel set on double rainbow film board with blue foil. The card is numbered /90.

Rookie Cards and Parallels;

The rookies are made of the same double-rainbow film board as a lot of the parallels. The same bio formation and the players last years stats in college are also included on the back of the cards, just like the base cards. We pulled (2) rookie cards in our box of 2007 Donruss Elite Football. They are cards of Paul Williams of the Tennessee Titans and Matt Trannon of the Arizona Cardinals. Both cards are numbered to /599.

Insert Cards;

The inserts came very fast and furious in this box. All of the inserts are on the double rainbow film board as well. Here are the inserts we pulled;
  • Elite Series J.P. Losman /1000
  • Elite Teams Red Cardinals /400...Elite Teams Black Saints /800
  • Chain Reaction Gold Tom Brady /1000
  • Back to the Future Blue Urlacher / Hawk /400
  • Prime Targets Gold Torry Holt /1000
  • Passing the Torch Red Terrell Davis / Mike Bell /800
  • Passing the Torch Green Corey Dillon / Laurence Maroney /400
  • Zoning Commission Gold Tony Romo /1000
  • Zoning Commission Red Tiki Barber /200

Game-Used Cards;

The Game-used pulled were a dual Throwback Threads Tom Brady on the front side and Matt Leinart on the back of the card. The card is #d /100. The 2nd card is a Carson Palmer Chain Reaction Jersey #d /150.

Final Thoughts on 2007 Donruss Elite Football;

This is a real nice effort from Donruss with a lot of devotion to subsets / inserts in this middle-of-the-road (pricewise) product. The base cards have that nice metallic look to them and the inserts really "POP" with that double rainbow film board. We pulled some real nice inserts in our box, but the highlight pull being the dual jersey card of Tom Brady and Matt Leinart. The Vince Young die-cut was a particularly nice card also. I would have liked to have seen one autograph guaranteed per box here though and it would be a great value. These boxes can usually be had for between $67 and $87 on most sites that I have checked.

Here's how I would rate this product;
  • Value = 4
  • Innovation = 5
  • Fun and Experience = 5
  • Rebuy Value = 4

I rate this product an "A" for Donruss!
