Here's what I pulled in our box of 2011 Press Pass Football.

Rookie Base Cards;

In this year’s release Press Pass changed up the base set with horizontal style cards. The cards feature a scoreboard type design with the player's name highlighted at the top and bottom of the card. The player's position and personal statistics are displayed to the left. The overall design has a certain ticket appearance to them and the colored highlights on a black stock really makes them stand out. The base set features 53 draft eligible players and in our box we pulled them all. We pulled 59 in total with 4 duplicates and 2 of the numbered reflector variations.

Inserts;

This years release of Press Pass Football features 7 different non-autographed insert sets. Press Pass delivers several nice insert sets geared towards those collectors that enjoy building the subsets along with the base set. In our box we pulled quite a few nice inserts. Scanned below are the inserts cards along with what we pulled in our break.

Face to Face

In our box we we pulled 8 of the 15 Face to Face inserts or 53% of the complete set.

2011 Graduating Class

In our box we we pulled all 9 of the 2011 Graduating Class inserts we pulled the complete set along with 3 duplicates.

Banner Season

In our box we we pulled all 15 of the Banner Season inserts for a complete set along with 5 duplicates or 20 total Banner Season inserts.

Class of 2011

In our box we we pulled 4 of the 10 Class of 2011 inserts or 40% of the complete set.

Trophy Club

In our box we we pulled all 6 of the Trophy Club inserts and 8 overall with 2 duplicates.

Power Pick

In our box we we pulled 2 of the 5 Power Pick inserts or 40% of the complete set.

National Leaders

In our box we we pulled all of the 17 National Leaders inserts along with 1 duplicate and 1 Reflector variation as well bring the total pulled to 19.

Game Used;

Our box featured a Gridiron Gamers Gold Variation numbered to 99 Game Used card of Torrey Smith. The odds of pulling a Game Used piece are slotted at 1 in very 84 packs. So our box featured a bonus hit. The overall design of the Game Used card doe not disappoint. The card features an in action photograph and is highlighted with a gold foil finish.

Rookie Autographs;

Our box did deliver the 5 autographs as expected we pulled 4 Press Pass Authentics Autographs with 1 being a Silver Variation numbered to 199 and 1 Power Pick Autograph numbered to 250. The interesting thing on our autograph pulls the the Red Ink variation on the Power Pick Autograph. At this time I haven't seen any other Jonathan Baldwin Red Ink autographs from any of the autograph sets in circulation. It will be interesting to see if Press Pass releases a short print Red ink list in the near future as we may have pulled a very scarce card.

Final Thoughts on 2011 Press Pass Football;

Press Pass always delivers a nice early season release. Unfortunately the lack of NCAA licensing prohibits them from providing team logos and the association of the school they attended. I'm sure this will be some what disappointing to hard core college collectors. I do really like the new horizontal design on the base set in my opinion it's a refreshing change to see Press Pass change their design. The down side of course is the darker backgrounds a little less forgiving and surface issues such as chipping can be magnified.

The autographs and game used cards maintained a similar design to previous releases. While I admit to not knowing a lot about the players we pulled it will be a lot of fun to see where they are selected in the upcoming draft. To me half the fun of the early season breaks is waiting to see how high they're drafted and where they go.

Our box not only delivered a complete set but we also completed 4 of the 7 inserts sets as well and enjoyed the advertised five-autograph break. We exceeded per-box hit odds with an additional memorabilia card so all in all good value all the way through even though we did not pull one of the more recognizable names in this years release.

Here's how I would rate this product;
  • Value = 5
  • Innovation = 4
  • Fun and Experience = 5
  • Rebuy Value = 4

I rate this product "B+" for Press Pass.

Nice review and it's always nice to get more hits than advertised. Too bad I've never heard of the guys.

I like that they changed it up a little and flipped all their cards on their side.

And you can't beat On The Card autos.

In its entirety, I like the oncard autos the best of everything. Very nice thorough review.

Great review. I think this set is solid but what I like most is the on card autos. I picked up a few packs yesterday and got (2) Cam Newtons and (2) Blaine Gabberts in the same pack so that was pretty sweet.
