Here's what I pulled in our box of 2010 Topps Football.

Base Cards;

The 440 card base set features a glossy in action or posed photo with the Topps logo in the upper left hand corner. The team name is bolded on the bottom of the card. Underneath the team name is the player’s position and name. Another nice feature of the set is that with a later release date Topps was able to deliver cards of new players on their current teams. See the McNabb above in a Redskins uniform. With all of the off season activity team collectors often look forward to collecting their new favorite player in the correct uniform. In our box we pulled 261 of the 440 cards in the set with no duplication or 59% of the complete set.

Inserts and Parallels;

This year’s release of Topps is loaded with insert sets and parallels. In our box we pulled several nice ones with the lowest numbered card being an Ed Reed Black Parallel number to 55. In our box we pulled these:

6 Gridiron Giveaway Code Cards

7 Gold Parallels

1 Black Parallels

6 - 75 Anniversary NFL Draft Cards

9 Peak Performance Insert Cards

1 Ring of Honor

12 - 1952 Bowman Football

4 Topps 55th Anniversary Reprints

34 Ticket To TOPPSTOWN.COM Cards

9 Gridiron Lineage Cards

Rookie Cards;

The rookie cards in this year’s release are similar in design to the other cards in the base set. This release is loaded with rookies 110 to be exact and several short print variations as well. In our box we hit all the big names but no notable short prints.

Relic Card;

Our Game Used pull was from the Peak Performance subset. We definitely pulled a nice piece from an upcoming star. The card features the notation of Rice dismantles Dallas in the playoffs and the back of the card lists his statistics and performance from that game. As a Cowboy fan I can’t say that I’d like that piece in my collection but I’m sure one of our collectors here on Traders Retreat will enjoy it.

Final Thoughts on 2010 Topps Football;

The release of 2010 Topps Football comes out in time to kick off the NFL season and the collecting season for football hobbyists. As usual Topps puts out an affordable product that will appeal to all collectors. The product can usually be found at a retail price of $45 - $55. This release provides the opportunity to pull a monster rookie premier or historic cut autograph while appealing to set builders and rookie collectors. Given it’s suggested retail price it does not exclude the younger collectors or those on tighter collecting budget. I really enjoyed the design of the 1952 Bowman and the Gridiron Lineage subsets. It will be interesting to see what cards come from the Gridiron Giveaway program. I'm guessing much like opening a pack of cards you could receive a base card or a very rare piece to add to your collection. I'm sure many collectors will be after these redemption codes and we'll find out what is in the program in the near future. With 2010 Topps Football you are guaranteed a fun break, a great selection of rookies and one relic or autograph per box.

Here's how I would rate this product;
  • Value = 4
  • Innovation = 4
  • Fun and Experience = 4
  • Rebuy Value = 4

I rate this product "B+" for Topps.

I like that the relic is specific to a game, it make owning it a true piece of history. Well done.

It looks really good. The cards have an appealing look to them just wish they had a different picture of Tebow. Kinda weird looking in my opinion. The relic looks sick though.

Finally another good year for. I've been disappointed the last 2 years, but I'm looking forward to getting some of these. I like the design of the cards this year, and the 1 auto or gu per box instead of just the gu.

Nice RCs. Not a bad break and I do like some some of the inserts in there mostly the Ring of Honor Brees and 75th Aniversary Rookies. Thanks for the review

Nice variety of inserts. Wish Rice didn't get hurt though.
