Here's what we pulled in our box of 2010 Donruss Elite Football.

Base Cards, Parallels and Inserts;

Nice simple elite design and foil board technology, always make this a high-quality collectable set. The front simply has the product name and players name, position and team. The back has a short bio along with interesting information about the player. Here's what the Ronnie Brown card says on the back;

"The No. 2 draft pick in 2005, Brown has averaged more than 800 yards rushing and 250 yards receiving in his five NFL seasons. In 2006, he rushed for a career-best 1,008 yards (his only 1,000 yard season). Yet it was 2008 when he posted a career-best 10 touchdowns."

The Brown card is a little off-cut from left to right, but it is the only one in the break that is.

Here is the insert breakdown from this break;
  • Elite Series Adrian Peterson /999
  • Chain Reaction Peyton Manning /999
  • Zoning Commission Mike Sims-Walker /99
  • Prime Targets Vincent Jackson /999
  • Stars Michael Turner /99
  • SuperBowl XLIV Darren Sharper /999

Rookie and Rookie Parallel Cards;

The rookies are of the same design, but are a chrome version compared to the base veteran foil board. We pulled our four base rookies in this break, but wish there were more. Along with the four base rookies we also pulled a die-cut Ndamukong Suh /93, and NFL plain shield Eric Decker /999 and a plain team logo of Ryan Mathews /999.

Game-Used Cards;

2010 Donruss Elite has actual game worn jerseys in the product, which makes it a little more attractive than event used jerseys. The Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions is a Chain Reaction piece and is numbered /299. The Brent Jones is a Throwback Threads piece and is also numbered /299. Both are nice pieces, but a patch on one of them would have been great.

Autographed Cards;

2010 Donruss Elite offers at least one autographed card per box. We pulled two autographed versions, so we beat the odds somewhat. The players we pulled are Derrick Morgan of the Tennessee Titans, via Georgia Tech, numbered to /499 and Ben Tate of the Houston Texans, via Auburn (plain NFL shield oncard auto). The Morgan is completely on sticker and has no bubbling or breaks in it. The Tate is on card which make s it more appealing to most collectors.

Final Thoughts on 2010 Donruss Elite Football;

2010 Donruss Elite Football is a favorite of many collectors as they have a wide variety of autographed cards every year. The most favorite of mine being the Passing The Torch dual autographed set. While we didn't pull any of those high-collectibles, we did manage to pull two autographed cards in our break. Derrick Morgan was a high 1st round pick (16) this year and Ben Tate was a solid 2nd round pick that could be a great back for the Texans.

I was only dissapointed with the amount of base rookies in the box. I would like to see at least one in every other pack for this to be a real go to product for me every year. With that said, Elite has withstood the test of time, and is a great set every year and is very sought out by collectors.

These boxes can usually be had for between $80 and $110 on most sites that I have checked. The $80 was on ebay and was a great buy at that price point.

Here's how I would rate this product, based on what we experienced during our break;
  • Value = 4
  • Innovation = 4
  • Fun and Experience = 5
  • Rebuy Value = 4
I rate this product a "B+" for Panini!

Sweet pulls for a Lions fan with the Megatron jersey and the Suh RC. I really like the horizontal rookie cards. The seem to catch my eye. They look really nice with the autograph on card as well. B+ is a fair rating for this set.

Nice Suh Die Cut. I like the rounded edges of the Die cuts so they are not as bent. This year's Elite is the best in years. I really like what Panini is doing.

Thanks for the very nice review!!! I really like the look of the cards and the pictures of the players which are clear and easy to see. I'm not really as much a fan of the insert design which has a lot of space taken up by other stuff that just takes away from the pictures.
