Here's what we pulled in our box of 2009 Topps Platinum Football.

Base Cards;

Nice simple design and foil board technology, make this a high-quality set. The cards appear darker because of the foil board used. They are of a high
sheen, and have that chrome look to them. The front simply has the product name at the top and players name and team at the bottom. The back has a
short bio along with interesting information about the player.

Here's what the Donald Driver card says;
"After languishing on the bench in his first several seasons, Driver's determination and intelligence led to his development as an elite receiver who is playing on a high level well into his 30s. Quick in his breaks and smart with his reads, he became the Packers career receptions leader in 2009".

Rookie and Rookie Parallel Cards;

The rookies are of the same design, but are a chrome version compared to the base veteran foil board. They state 1 chrome rookie per pack, but we pulled more throughout the break. We pulled (54) rookies of one fashion or another. The white refractors seem to be the nicest of the bunch of the non-autographed rookies. Although, the thicker foil board rainbow version is sweet also. We pulled most of the best rookies from 2009 in this box.
  • (41) Regular Chrome Rookies
  • (5) Rainbow Foil Board Rookies /1549
  • (3) Refractor Rookies /999
  • (2) White Refractor Rookies /499
  • (3) Autographed Rookies

Autographed Cards;

2009 Topps Platinum offer three autographed cards per box. The same basic design as the base, but in a horizontal format, that allows better for the autograph placement. Jarett Dillard and Rashard Jennings of the Jacksonville Jaguars were are rookie auto pulls. Both autos are completely on sticker and have no bubbling or breaks in them. They are numbered out of /1050. The autograph patch is of Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets and is numbered out of /110. Nice clean autograph again.

Final Thoughts on 2009 Topps Platinum Football;

Needless to say, our box of 2009 Topps Platinum was a great break with the Mark Sanchez auto / patch pull. But, I thought Bowman was the home of the rookie cards (Topps Bowman saying). We pulled tons of rookies from our box at a rate greater than the one per pack as stated in the odds. 54 rookie cards of one fashion or another in this box is amazing. Granted every box probably won't be as plentiful, but I can only assess this product based on this break alone. The white refractors are great, only draw back here is that we didn't get any red or blue refractors in this box.

These boxes can usually be had for between $81 and $120 on most sites that I have checked. The $81 was on ebay and was a great buy at that price point, as they usually go around $100.

Here's how I would rate this product, based on what we experienced during the break;
  • Value = 5
  • Innovation = 5
  • Fun and Experience = 5
  • Rebuy Value = 5
I rate this product an "A+" for Topps!

I love this product. I finally finished my regular set. I like the white and black refractors. Wish I could've pulled the Sanchez.

Nice review and sick pull on the Sanchez! It's interesting that Topps ended it's Football line with 2 new sets. Based on what I've seen of Platinum I'd say they're going out with a bang.
