Here's what I pulled in our box of 2009 Topps National Chicle Football.

Cabinet Card;

Base Cards and Minis;

Topps National Chicle Football is an all-new painted set. The base set for this release features painted portraits of today’s top stars, legends and rookies. The finish on the cards is non glossy which would be ideal for in person or through the mail autograph seekers. Each card is like a mini piece of art. Each pack also contains miniature versions of the base set or gold miniature variations.

In addition, the following three cards do not appear in the regular base card set.

These subjects can only be found as mini parallel versions.

59 – Jonathan Stewart
99 – Brandon Pettigrew
191 – Steve Slaton

Featured artists include:

Ken Branch
Jason Davies
Brett Farr
Chris Henderson
Don Higgins
Dave Hobrecht
Brian Kong
Mike Kupka
Paul Lempa
Monty Sheldon

In our box we pulled:

Rookie Cards;

The Rookie cards are similar in design to the base set with the notation of Rookie Card in the upper left corner. The set includes 51 of the games tops rookies and we pulled 35 of the in our box.

Insert Cards;

There are 5 additional insert sets in the Chicle release. We pulled an assortment from these subsets.

Youngsters of the Gridiron 20 cards in the set and we pulled 5.
Greats of the Gridiron 10 cards in the set and we pulled 1.
Stars of the Gridiron 10 cards in the set and we pulled 4.
Greatest Thrills 10 cards in the set and we pulled 2.
Era Icons 14 cards in the set and we pulled 8

Relic Card;

Our relic card was a unique pull as well, we pulled a Charles Lindbergh stamp card. Another interesting concept from this release.

Autographs;

Both autographs we pulled for rookie autographs from the National Chicle Autographs insert set. In our box we pulled Chase Coffman and Hakeem Nicks.

Printing Plates;

In addition to the anticipated Relic and Autographs our box also delivered not one but two 1 of 1 printing plates.

Final Thoughts on 2009 Topps National Chicle Football;

Topps National Chicle Football delivers a fun and affordable product that offers something unique for collectors. The artistry is unique and is ideal for set builders. In our box there were no duplicate cards. We pulled 142 of the 200 cards out of the base set or roughly 75% of a complete set in one box. We pulled a nice assortment of today’s top rookies, a unique stamp relic, two rookie autographs and capped the box off with two 1 of 1 printing plates. Prior to opening Chicle I’ve never personally pulled a 1 of 1 and was quite surprised to pull 2 from the same box.

Here's how I would rate this product;
  • Value = 4
  • Innovation = 5
  • Fun and Experience = 4
  • Rebuy Value = 4

I rate this product "B+" for Topps.
