Here's what we pulled in our box of 2009 Topps Finest Football.

Base and Parallel Cards;

The 2009 Topps Finest Football design is quite unique as it incorporates the football field layout with the hash marks and yard line numbering. Very simple on the front while they still add in the teams color scheme into the left hand and bottom borders. For instance the Steven Jackson is blue on the left and gold on the bottom. This really makes it easy to look for your favorite team in a stack of cards. There is a nice short bio on the back along with a section called 2008 Finest Moment, where it list some factual information about one of the players Finest Moments in the previous year.

Refractor Breakdown
  • (3) base refractors
  • (2) blue refractors
  • (2) green refractor
  • (1) pigskin refractor

Rookie and Parallel Cards;

The rookie cards are of the exact same design as the base, but have the rookie designation on the bottom right corner of the card. You get a ton of rookies in Topps Finest Football. Here's the rookie results;

Rookie Breakdown
  • (20) base roookies
  • (2) blue refractors
  • (1) green refractor
  • (1) pigskin refractor

Autographed Cards (2) Per Box;

We pulled (2) Rookie Autograph On-Letter Cards

The autographs are of Gartrell Johnson of the San Diego Chargers numbered to /68 and Johnny Knox of the Chicago Bears numbered to /102. The Knox is a real nice high quality autograph while the Johnson seems a little smushed as the areas to sign are limited on the "H". Overall two nicely autographed on letter autographs.

Final Thoughts on 2009 Topps Finest Football;

I was surprised to see only two mini boxes per hobby box as it has been three in the past. With the higher quality autographed variations I can understand it though. The rookie abundance is always a treat with Topps Finest and this box didn't dissapoint in any way there. Counting the autographed cards we pulled a total of (26) rookies of one form or another. The refractors are always a big plus in this product and I really like the variations there too. The pigskin refractors are really neat as they look like they would have a rough football feel, but they area as smooth as the rest. Some have reported that the refractors are hard to tell from the rest of the cards. They are not as they are listed on the cards as refractor under the card number on the back. This makes them very distinguishable from the base cards. I would have like to have seen a patch auto along with one on-letter card per box as it would be nice to see the most variations as you can for a review. These boxes can usually be had for between $70 and $100 on most sites that I have checked. For the $70 price tag it is a great value.

Here's how I would rate this product;
  • Value = 5
  • Innovation = 5
  • Fun and Experience = 4.5
  • Rebuy Value = 4
I rate this product an "A" for Topps! There is definitely value to be had in these boxes.

Nice review. Looks like a sweet product. Really tired of the same 100 players in the base set.

Topps if you're listening. Please bring back topps total so we can get some cards of different players other than the top three for each team.

Nice cards. Look a lot better than last year's Finest where I bought a box and was hugely disappointed with my pulls.

I second that call about Topps Total. It is time Jahri Evans, for example, has his "rookie" card released. Plus I'd love to get my hands on Jabari Greer and Heath Evans in a Saints uniform.

I like the look of the cards, really intereresting backround graphics, & not only autos, but letterman autos, i wish they would've been bigger stars, but its hard to argue with letterman autos. Thanks Topps for the box.

Great review
Finest seems to be a let down again too many 4th rounders signers compared to 1st rounders
