These are always exciting cards to open. My personal collection features a lot of Press Pass Auto's of current and former Lions players. The other manufactures don't have the extensive list of players that can be found in Press Pass products.

What I pulled:

Base cards

The base cards have a very clean look to them with the players picture being in color and the background black & white. The player looks as though he is coming right out of the card. I got 39 of 50 base cards.

Class of 2009

2 - K. Moreno & P. Harven

This subset has a nice holo foil look to it. The back of the card tells why each player is the best of his 2009 class.

Double Feature

4 - M. Sanchez/J. Johnson, B. Orakpo/S. McGee, B. Pettigrew/M. Goodson & M. Jenkins/D. Williams

This subset also features holo foil and a very nice movie marquee design. It features players from the same conferences and tells what they did in the game they played against each other.

Headliners

6 - M. Jenkins, L. McCoy, D. Brown, H. Nicks, N. Davis & T. Jackson

This subset is foil and my scan doesn't do it justice. The back of the card has a mini scouting report and why the player made headlines for their school.

Game Day Gear

I got 3 of them and the bonus is that 2 were numbered to /99. Those 2 have a holo foil lettering on them.

Autographs

8 Bronze - P. White, M. Thomas, B. Gibson, R. Jennings, K. Britt, C. Peerman, B. Cushing & J. P. Wilson
1 Silver - V. Davis #/199

All of them are on-card Auto's, which is rare these days. Look for Red and Inscription Auto's too.

Final Thoughts

I always enjoy opening Press Pass product. The thrill of getting the on-card auto's is fantastic. Completing the base set isn't all that hard to do, and that's a nice switch these days. With so many to choose from, I guess my favorite card would have to be the Laurinaitis Jersey card. I wish the Lions would have drafted him.

Most hobby Shops have this in the $130-150 range.
Blowout cards has a special at $108.95 per box and Altanta Sportscards is at $118.99.

Here's how I would rate this product:

Value = 5
Innovation = 5
Fun and Experience = 5
Rebuy Value = 5

I opened 3 packs of the SE over the weekend.
Really like the card design.
I got 3 Autos:
Rashad Jennings 105/150
Vontae Davis 02/50
Andre Brown 136/199

Can't argue with that. 3 packs - 3 Autos.

The other inserts were fun, too.
Got a Double Feature - Aaron Curry/James Davis
And 2 Headliners - Juaquin Iglesias & Mike Goodson.

Overall I like this product.

I like all the designs of this set. The B&W background on the base is cool. The "Game Day Gear" cards would look really cool signed. I guess you would have to get it IP, because I wouldn't send those out TTM

Being a Dolphins fan myself, I'm jealous of those auto's as well

Nice product. Nice review.

Thanks, Brett

I like that the base cards have a nice crisp design.

I love that the autographs are on card not on some sticker that may cut off part of the signature.

I like that it offers swatches from college uniforms.
The design on the Game used cards though lack in appeal to me because of the large "dead space" , nothing on it. The Gameday gear out of the presspass not presspass SE has a much better design this year also good design if they wanted to add an auto to it.

I don't like that the basecard "gold version" is only available in the retail.

And the Holofoil designs of the inserts are prone to show any finger prints even when trying to only handle tha card by the edges.

But all in all a good attempt--I would like for Presspass to try something new--like nameplate booklets, or the patch cards to be from the college bowl logo that they wore in their final game. Something that helps add to the value and fun of opening a box.

PS Great WVU auto!!!
Let's Goooooooooooo Mountainers!!!!!!!!

I personally love nearly every aspect. I love the the look of the base cards. The little touches are what makes them pop. The simple fact that the names and the little border at the top are the college teams colors makes it look great imo. I really like the yardage border and yet there is enough "white" on the card that you could use them as cards to get auto'd if desired.

The insert cards are outstanding. I like the reflective look of the Headliners, Class of O9 and Headliners. Call me an old school geek but I really fell in love with that technology/design way back in the early Topps Finest days. The metallic shiny look is always a winner with me.

The game used set is very visual appealing. I always prefered the game used piece in the center of the card and it is a pretty large portion. My only knock on it would be: it would have been a bit cooler if the reflection pic on the bottom were a different pose. Also, instead of the reflective pose, a large team logo maybe would have been interesting too.

Press Pass makes the best looking autgraphed cards. Period. My love of shiny things is only surpassed by my love of simple autographed cards. I do not like cards that detract from the actual auto. The oncard auto is obviously a huge plus. The design has been consistent from year to year which I like, plus there is a large area to receive the autograph. Some set simply have the "squeezed in look". I absolutely love the Davis auto. Having 1/2 the card to sign is awesome though I wish he would have thrown in his number or something.

Overall, I love the set. Press Pass continually delivers a great product loaded with hits at an affordable price. Price Point is important to the collectors both young and old alike. As one who cannot afford 500 dollar decorative cases with a handful of cards, Press Pass is a consistent breath of fresh affordability and value.

There is a lot to like about this product. It looks like they've increased the number of guaranteed autos from 8 to 9 which is always a plus. I like the Double Feature insert as it brings back important conference battles and brings stars together in a meaningful way. And overall, the inserts make great use of the photography and the designs are all very appealing.

I have to say the jersey card design is slightly disappointing, mainly because it would have been nice to have a different picture instead of 2 of the same with the design they used. Something about it just doesn't look right.

I'll tell you what I really don't like though - people that sit back and take potshots at Press Pass because they "aren't NFL Licensed" or some other garbage excuse. They are basically saying they don't want the college cards. Well, nobody is making you buy them, and you must not be a college football fan if you don't like these cards. There is bold action photography and plenty of good hits to go around, so I don't know what there is to complain about.

Love this set, the autographs are what makes press pass football, and se football great!! Just look at the quality of thew on-card graphs, and the sheer # of different players. The player selection is always good!!
