I decided to do a review on one of my favorite products, this is my first one, so here goes.
Intro
2008 Donruss Classics is a middle-priced box, that still gives you a chance of pulling a sweet hit. At MRSP $90, it is definitely affordable compared to products such as Exquisite,Sweet Spot, Premiere, Etc.
Design
Donruss has really improved on the quality of Classics this year. The Base Cards look very nice, they give a simple design that is still somewhat creative. Last year, the cards reminded me of the "wild west". This year they have a much lighter feeling.
Before

After
I will Note I have seen one thing on many insert cards that I cannot tell if it is a flaw or part of the design.

Notice inside the black squares how it appears fuzzy.
Overall, the design has definitely improved.
Box Quality
For $85, you're 3 hits better be good quality. And in most cases, they are. You are Guaranteed 1 autograph out of the 3 hits. There is a big cutoff on the value of the autographs. The normal ones are numbered to 499, but other parallels are as low as 25. It also greatly depends on what player you get. A Popular player will often go for 1-1.5x book value, while a no-name may go as low as .20x the already low BV.
Overall, The quality is pretty good. The resale value really depends on who the player is. Don't forget about the 15+ inserts you will get, those will help the boxes value too.
Other Stuff
I would highly suggest not buying hobby packs. Although these packs are hard to search, they can still be easily told apart via weighing. This hurts you're already low (1:6) chance of getting a hit.
Donruss did not try to hard to come up with creative set names. I mean come on, "classic singles". Maybe they should have TR come up with some ideas. Other uncreative names include: Old School/School Colors, Saturday Stars, Sunday's Best, Monday Night Heroes, and even Classic Cuts. I guess the last one might be okay because people will quickly forget about the set name when they see a Walter Payton Cut Auto /9 in their pack.
Final Grade
Donruss Classics has really improved, and with a few minor problems fixed, could be considered one of the top names out there.
