Default Tom Brady Top 2 Rookie Cards Double in BV

Tom Brady's 2 top RCs doubled in value over the past 2 months. Both the 2000 Playoff Contenders ($700) and SP Authentic ($800) RCs are carrying premiums on ebay with ungraded cards selling for close to BV. Seems that many collectors are expecting big things this year from Brady, now that he has a big time receiving corp. As a Patriots Collector, I find selling my rookie year Brady autos very tempting, but....

don't remind me, I figured he was a flash in the pan, sold one for $50 when it booked less than that, thought I made a great deal.

Also, if I remember correctly wasn't he one you had to send in for? If so, I sent in for two and only got one back, happened to me with Playoff with 3 contenders rookie autos I had dupes of and they only sent me one of each. I know two were qbs and one was a defensive back.

Please do not send DC UNLESS you have a package 3/4" wide or wider. While your post office may let you send it, mine charges me extra if it isn't "by the book".

My story has a much happier ending than yours. I bought about 6 packs of Contenders in 2000, and pulled a Brady RC...about a week later I pulled the Tom Brady/Mark Bulger Round Numbers duel auto. At first I was not at all happy...because 1. they were common RCs and 2. nobody was going to replace Bledsoe in New England at QB...well, not any time soon...so I thought. There was a silver lining at the time; since I was a Patriots fan, I could have done worse. Needless to say, Bledsoe got hurt, and the rest is history. I watched as the Brady Contenders went from $20 to $250 basically overnight...and now up to $700. I learned a lesson that season...hold on to the "crap" rookie cards...they may not be crap for long.

I learned a lesson too, make copies of the redemption cards before you send them in, also sending them in separate seems to help a bit.

I am a Bears fan, most of our crap rookies have stayed that way or gotten worse, imagine the thousands of dollars fools could have dumped into Rashaan Salaam, Curtis Enis and Cade McNown, not to mention David Terrell, and Anthony Thomas. (oh, dangit I am that fool...)

Mike

Your story is great, but I can top it. Many years ago, before the Bledsoe incident and Brady took over, I was searching the ebay auctions for Darrell Jackson cards for a friend who was collecting him at the time. I came across an auction that had no bids and was ending in about 10 minutes. The starting asking bid was .99 cents and the auction was for 2- 2000 SPX rookies, Darrell Jackson & Tom Brady. I bid the opening bid, won the auction for .99 cents and paid 1.25 shipping. I still have the Brady today. Todd

If it doesn't say # 1/1 on the card, then it's not a 1/1.

Just because it says # 1/xx on the card, doesn't mean it's the first one made, just the first one numbered.

Actually, it was 49 1/2 cents for the Brady. Remember, I got Darrell Jackson rookie too.
