National pt.2 ~ 1999 Bowman's Best box break

So, some of you may already know this, but I LOVE buying boxes from 1999.
I like them because it is Amos Zereoue's rookie year. Plus, this year was when I returned to the hobby, and I also collected Rob Konrad and JJ Johnson of the Dolphins.

I was going to buy a box of 1999 Donruss Elite at the 28th National Sports Collectors Convention last week, but found a box of Bowman's Best for $23!
I could not pass it up!

So, my dad decided I should open the box on the trip home.
I would open 1 pack every 7 miles.

I pulled the entrie Base Set 1-90 + 91-100 Best Performers subset
and 24 of the Rookies 101-133 (1: pack)

Jokingly before we started, I said I was going to pull an expired redemption card of Amos Zereoue for his autographed mini-helmet (since I have his football already from this set, I wanted the mini-helmet redemption). I looked at the back of the first pack, and laughed when I saw the odds:

And away we went on our journey home...

Nothing
Hot box idea shot down? hmmm....


Pack 4:
Akili Smith Future Foundations (1:20) AND Terrell Owens Refractor #195/400 (1:17)

Beat the odds pulling a second refractor
Four Packs, Four inserts!
So, we think it still might be a hot box?!? until....

Well, there's my box! Got everything that I was supposed to and more!

Pack 24:
As we pulled into the restaurant in our hometown, I opened the last pack of the box.

I said "You've GOT to be kidding me!!!"

My dad said "Why?"

I said "Miami Dolphins...

Rob Konrad 1999 Bowman's Best Memorabilia Redemption for an NFL Mini-Helmet (1:3,162)

The back says "There are 278 of the AUTOGRAPHED MINI HELMET REDEMPTION CARDS"
and there are 31 players...that makes it about 9 total helmets per player...
...but is there 9 per player? I'm guessing some players have more and some have less...
maybe this is a 1/1 for him?!? who knows!!!



I'm gonna contact Topps, cause I doubt they'd just throw away a mini helmet.
I'll let you all know what happens!

So, it wasn't the Zereoue I had originally hoped for, but Konrad was one of my 3 main focuses from that year!

Pulled a sweet redemption of my player...
redemption expired...
THEREFORE, I have the best worst luck of all!
