Vick to Plead Guilty and Serve Jail Time

It appears highly likely that Michael Vick will plead guilty tomorrow and server 12 months or more in jail.

More than football, Michael Vick's freedom is the question now. With three associates prepared to testify that he brutally executed dogs and bankrolled gambling, the NFL star agreed Monday to "accept full responsibility" for his role in a dogfighting ring and plead guilty to federal conspiracy charges.

Worries about playing time will have to wait while Vick faces prison time — from one to five years.

The maximum term is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, although federal sentencing guidelines likely would call for less. Defense attorneys would not divulge details of the plea agreement or how much time Vick can expect to serve.

However, a government official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the terms are not final, told The Associated Press that prosecutors will recommend a sentence of a year to 18 months.

Is Vick getting this because he is famous or is this fair?

that is a great question. Hard to say but to me it seems like to me over the past 30 years that I have followed sports that more times then not the athletes/celbs are giving a double standard. What one of us is guilty will bring a different sentence then say a Michael Vick. I don't have names to back it up but just seems to me that athletes/celbs are more likely to get less jain time if any. So I have to admit personally I am shocked he will serve a 1 yr sentence. I figured in the end the NFL might keep him out awhile but that he get 1,000 hours community service...do a few ads for TV on Dog Violence and given a probabtion period. That just my feelings

Keep in mind these are my general feelings when it comes to the above question and are subject to a case by case situation if that makes sense or not.

The Falcons will try to recoup $22 million already paid to suspended quarterback Michael Vick, a person with knowledge of the team's plans told the Journal-Constitution on Saturday.

Vick was suspended indefinitely by the NFL on Friday after he pleaded guilty to federal dogfighting charges in Virginia. That cleared the way for the Falcons to pursue money paid to Vick in signing bonus money.

Vick has received roughly $40 million in guaranteed bonuses — and even more in base salary — but teams are only allowed to try to recoup money paid in signing bonuses, per the collective bargaining agreement with the players' union.

Well depends on how you view this???? Leonard Little killed a woman and he's still in the nfl. Yes he killed a person! Granted it was in the days of the former commish. Vick can still get out of jail and do probation with a fine depending on what he gives the feds on everything else he may know about.
