Larry Johnson trade rumors!!!!

Ive heard that KC is in talks with the Giants, Packers, Bills and Titans to see what is out there...... no tellin if this will happen or not but if I was a betting man I'd have to say no.

Larry Johnson rumors swirl around NFL
Sports Radio 810 WHB staff

The NFL Network’s Adam Schefter sent shockwaves through the heart of Chiefs Nation when he reported the team was actively shopping Pro Bowl running back Larry Johnson.

Chiefs President/GM Carl Peterson appeared on The Program with Soren Petro Wednesday to talk about the upcoming NFL draft. The subject of Johnson was bound to come up.

“Larry has a contract for this year,” Peterson said. “We are in negotiations with his representatives. There will be speculation that it will not get done and that perhaps the best thing for the Chiefs would be to move Larry Johnson… that’s pure speculation at this point.”

Schefter also made an appearance on Sports Radio 810’s airwaves and repeated that it was more than just speculation.

“It’s out there, there’s no question about it.” Schefter said. “The Chiefs have definitely been shopping Larry Johnson around the league.”

Schefter maintains it won’t be an easy sell because of multiple factors.

“You have a very interesting situation that has led KC to shop Larry Johnson around the league to see what’s out there,” Schefter said. “There’s a certain asking price for him, it all stems from the fact that Larry Johnson’s in the last year of his contract and is asking for more money than Ladanian Tomlinson got two years ago”

That was a lot. L.T. signed an eight-year contract with over $20 million in guaranteed money with the Chargers. Since then the salary cap has risen 36 percent so L.J. is looking to cash in.

“The problem is who’s going to pay Larry Johnson, right now Kansas City is unwilling to do that,” Schefter said “Until it is, you are going to continue to here questions about Larry Johnson… whether he’s going to be traded, whether he’s going to report to training camp, whether he’s going to leave after the season. There are a lot of questions about this story.”

Schefter says that Larry Johnson is a “hot button” issue at One Arrowhead drive but thinks that because of the complicated nature of pulling off such a blockbuster trade that it won’t likely happen quickly, if it happens at all.

Love to see him in green and gold, but at that price tag; seems a bit unlikely.
