Ricky Williams back in the NFL?
It looks like Ricky Williams is not having as much fun playing in Canada. He has requested to come back into the NFL. Ricky Williams, the former NFL star who played in Canada last season after being suspended for a year for substance abuse, has applied for reinstatement. Williams' agent, Leigh Steinberg, said the running back, who will turn 30 in May, had sent a letter asking that he be allowed to return to the Miami Dolphins.
The NFL confirmed that Williams had sought reinstatement, for which he will be eligible after April 27, when he will have been suspended for a year. Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said the team had no comment because Williams is not yet eligible for reinstatement.
I can't believe he is already 30!

I think if he keeps his head on straight he can still do some damage in the NFL. Its gonna be hard to get that trust back though.

Chalk him up as another Laurence Phillips. Came in the league with possible tallent...and screwed it up being a bone head...in his case "a pot-head"

Wasn't Phillips involved in a lot worse stuff, like violent crimes? I see your analogy though.

I think Ricky was screwed over just like Mike Tyson, by bad management and people surrounding him. Mike Tyson had Don King. How does a guy make $200 million and go bankrupt?
Ricky Williams had some agent that made his contract performance based. If Ricky did very well, he earned a lot. If he didn't do well he made very little. Well, he got a few injuries and fell behind on his contract performance. I think that was the beginning of the end of Ricky as people don't play hard anymore if they are not getting paid.
