Default 1950 Bread for Health George Mikan?

Not sure what is up with this 1950 Bread for Health George Mikan card, but it is selling well over $1,000.
Offered here is the 1950 Bread for Health George Mikan from one of the scarcest basketball sets in existence. How many of these do you see for sale? Basketball Bread for Health labels come up 1-2 per year on Ebay with the Mikan being available even more infrequently. One of the best examples of a bread label in the hobby.

Definitely one of the harder finds in the hobby, especially in good condition since they had to be peeled off the loaf of bread...then typically went into the trash or into some kids' hands. Most didn't survive, those that did typically aren't in great condition. Not sure about the reserve not being met at over 2k, but definitely a gem.

I remember seeing an article in the basketball beckett a few months back. These cards are all very rare and hard to find since majority of people just threw them away. I remember when I was younger about 20 years ago I got similar cards of baseball players at the back of the loaf of Webber bread. Thank goodness I cant remember who they were because if they are worth a lot, I dont want to know about it now since I tossed them in the trash. LOL!
