Destroying HOF bats to make cards, good idea?

I saw this awesome 4 barrel bat card on Ebay (Ty Cobb, Joe Dimaggio, Hack Wilson and Ken Griffey Jr). Beautiful card and I would love to have it, but I just can't help but feel they destroyed 4 great bats to make a few hundred cards. This is obviously better as it has the players inscriptions.

What is your feeling on destroying bats, uniforms, etc to create these cards?

I'd much rather own the whole thing then a piece.

On one hand I think it is ok to do it just for the mear fact it allows some people/kids to have an opportunity to own a piece of game used equipment that they would otherwise not be able to afford.

On the other hand my own personal feeling is I don't care for it because one if you don't get the name part of the bat how do you know it is really from their bat...example who is to say they don't go out and buy Pro Stock bats for 5.00 or less in bulk cut em up throw em in packs and say they are so and so GU. The other more important thing to me is a gu piece such as a full bat and or jersey should remain intack---let the buyer do what they want with it. Hope that makes a little sense. Bottom Line I don't care to see stuff ruined
