Donovan going back to Florida

Two sources within the University of Florida athletic department confirmed late Sunday to FLORIDA TODAY that Billy Donovan has changed his mind after signing a five-year, $27.5 million deal on Friday to coach the Orlando Magic and wants out of the contract. Meanwhile, Virginia Commonwealth coach Anthony Grant, who was an assistant under Donovan for 10 seasons at Florida and was expected to be named his replacement, released a statement Sunday night saying he has not been offered the Gator job -- as many had anticipated. Foxsports.com initially reported that Donovan had a change of heart, which was confirmed by UF sources to FLORIDA TODAY. ... Donovan was emotional at his press conference in Gainesville on Friday when asked how hard it was to make phone calls telling people he was leaving UF. He later told Orlando Magic officials about his change of heart and felt he was rushed into making a decision he now regretted, according to sources. Magic officials could not be reached on Sunday night and were believed to be on their way to Gainesville to try to persuade Donovan to change his mind.

I live right near billy, me, my brothers and ym dad go to a coaches clinicfor my dad up in gainsville at UF in the oconell center, we meet the players EVERY year. It was a BLAST this year meeting noah, green, humphey, brewer, horford. We all hung out in the locker room at about 10:30 at night after a practice my dad went to taking notes at the coaches clinc. i got 12 noah autographs, and the whole team on EVERYTHING! We eat pizzia and have drinks and everything with billy donovan, he has known us for about 6-7 years now, ever since I was a little kid, billy has le tmy dad bring me and my 2 brothers to his clinic. ONLY kids there, and taurean green was a clown when he was on the phone with his girl friend... MAN i'll never forget that night.. after we all hung out with the players, you see noah with this HUGEE headphones and a cd player just walk down the street to his dorm..

I'v been going to this clinic for a while, i'v met udonis haslem, jason williams, matt bonner, isiah thomas, larry bird,jerry west, isiah, bird, west were guest speakers.

This year, I can't wait to go and meet the new starters and players for the UF roster!

That's awseome man!! What an experience that must be and that's gotta be so much fun.. 12 Noah autographs over the years or 12 on that one clinic??

No, that one night noah was just signing everything for me and my 2 brothers, balls, national champion tshirts, photos, newspapers of him in it.. one thing my brother had a nice nike ball that he got billy donovan and noah to sign LOL noah just started dribbling it and smeared the autograph hahah... i got soooo manyn florida gator autographs, i'd have to upload some to show.
