I recently read an article on NBA.com about Grant Hill and that he might retire because of his ongoing injuries.
He got that big contract from the Magic in 2000 or 2001 I guess, because of his injuries, if you break down his income by games, he made plus 450.000 $$ per game since signing that deal.

Wow.. interesting stuff. Must not have been updated for a bit since some of the players are outdated.. Some staggering info though.. You look at the Knicks and they are 50 million more than any team! And then the Bulls, who have the 3rd lowest payroll in the league! Talk about good team management..

The Bulls have a lot of Rookie-Contracts. Their payroll will go up if they want to keep Gordon, Deng, Nocioni!

Well if that list is actually current, 20 million of that Knick money is going to Allan Houston, who is working for ESPN. Not bad for him. 2nd highest paid player and he doesn't have to show up or get sweaty. And the Knicks could sure use another 2 guard. They have like 6 now, anyway.

I don't think that the Knicks still pay Houston. I heard that his salary will be paid by an insurance because he is unable to play due to career-ending injury! And his salary isn't counting against the luxury tax-mark also!

"WASHINGTON, June 10 (AP) -- The Washington Wizards are committed to keeping Gilbert Arenas on the team, even after the All-Star guard said he planned to opt out of his contract.
Arenas told The Washington Post and The Washington Times that he will get out of the six-year, $65 million contract he signed in 2003 and become a free agent.
"As a three-time All-Star and one of the league's best players, we understand why a player of his stature would like to be compensated accordingly,'' Wizards president of basketball operations Ernie Grunfeld said in a statement.
"Gilbert has made a significant impact with his exploits on the court and a sincere connection with our fans and our community because of his compassion and generosity. Gilbert has said that his intention is to remain with our organization and we are committed to having him spend his entire career as a Washington Wizard.''
Arenas said his motive was strictly business.
"To me, it's just a smarter business decision to play next season, opt out and then be able to sign a long-term deal that is going to keep me in one place,'' Arenas, who is recovering from left knee surgery, told the Post.
"I have children now and I want to make the right decision for them,'' he told the Times.
Arenas said he has no plans to hire an agent. " End quote from nba.com
No I know why a lot of people don´t have children, they are not making 10 million a year and can´t afford them...

I really am lost for words when people say they can't feed their family or need to make sure their kids are safe in asking for a few more million dollars. Is Arenas serious? Like you mention, 10million a year and he needs to watch for his kids to make sure that it's enough?
C'mon Gil.
