Here's what we pulled in our box of 2008 Topps Chrome Baseball.
I like the layout of this years set; superb action shots of the players and the facsimile autographs almost look like real autographs. The Topps Chrome logo is in the extreme top center of the cards and really sets off the design. All of the text is easy to read without angling the cards. I am never dissapointed with a Topps Chrome product.
Below is a listing of parallels / inserts we pulled from our box.
- (2) Copper Refractors /599
- (1) Red Refractor /25
- (1) Copper Refractor Baseball Card History /100
- (6) Refractors...base
- (1) Topps Heritage Chrome Refractor /559
- (4) Topps Heritage Chrome /1959
- (6) Baseball Card History
- (4) Mantle Topps Chrome
- (2) 50th Anniversary
Rookie Cards;

The rookie cards have the same base design, but are very apparent from the rest of the set with the rookie logo in the upper left or right hand corner. The same short bio as on the base and the stats are from 2007 if in the majors or from their minor league experience. Some very interesting facts from the players background regarding highlights, fills out the back of the cards nicely. We pulled 17 rookies in our box...here's how it broke down.
- (13) Regular Rookies
- (2) Refractor Rookies
- (2) Autographs Rookies
Autographed Cards (2) Per Box Guaranteed;

The autographed cards we pulled are nice high-quality autographs. There is no bubbling or separation on the sticker autographs. The Ross Ohlendorf (New York Yankees) is a nice complete autograph while the Armando Galarraga (Detroit Tigers) is somewhat shortened due to the name length I'm sure. Still both nice solid autographs from some promising rookies for 2008 MLB.
Final Thoughts on 2008 Topps Chrome Baseball;
Topps Chrome anything is always a hit for Topps with me as it's in the low-range market. The (2) autographs guaranteed per box is the great selling feature for this box. I'm glad they went to 2 autographs per box as this could be a BIG selling point for the price. Plus, you get a ton of parallels and rookies in this 24 pack box. These boxes can usually be had for between $40 and $55 on most sites that I have checked. If you can get them at the low end it's a good buy in my opinion! Congratulations to Topps for keeping this product in the lower price range for us collectors on a limited budget who appreciate autographed cards.
Here's how I would rate this product;
- Value = 5
- Innovation = 4
- Fun and Experience = 5
- Rebuy Value = 4
I rate this product an "A" for Topps! It's nice to see lower end boxes contain two autographed cards.
