Here's what this pack of 2007 Bowman Sterling Baseball contained:
First card on the bottom of the pack is Rich Thompson Refractor out of /199.
Next in line from the bottom was Seattle Mariners Authentic GU Ichiro card.
Now for cards three and four from the bottom. I knew it was a good sign when I saw the Cameron Maybin card from the back, so I quickly flipped the pack to the top, showing the Curtis Thigpen Rookie Card. I really wanted the Maybin card to be autographed, so I was relieved the Thigpen card wasn't, knowing that two out of the five would be.
I turned up the Cameron Maybin and sure enough, there was ink on the card. Next up was the Florida Marlins Top pick from last June, draft Matt Dominguez. Two very nice certified autographs in this pack.
My thoughts before the box and pack arrived:
When contacted about the possibility of opening this pack and first understanding what it might contain brought many thoughts back, to memories of first opening packs in the mid to late 70's from Topps. I have always been a fan of Topps and when I heard about this box/pack break, I was excited and found myself checking the mail each day. I was tipped off to two possible certified autographs and I don't think I need to say that I am addicted to ink on cards. The idea of knowing there would be at least two autographs in this pack had me wondering who might be at my fingertips soon. At last ,the pack arrived today and I thought maybe I would change the format just a tiny bit by adding my thoughts before the box/pack break. I can now imagine what people are thinking when they buy a pack of this great product or a case of ten packs; hopefully, people who buy this great product get as pumped as I did tonight when I opened the pack.
Final Thoughts on 2007 Bowman Sterling Baseball:
The cards in this pack did not disappoint me at all, from the quality of the cards to the quality of the players. Putting two certified autographs in the packs will keep autograph collectors coming back for more packs and possibly cases. I think Bowman Sterling really hits on what all collectors enjoy finding in packs from rookie cards to numbered refractor insert cards. The one drawback is sticker autographs, which seem to be the norm for companies these days. My biggest concern with them are what will happen to the sticker in twenty years? Will it still stay on the card?
Here's how I would rate this product:
Value = 5
Innovation = 4
Fun and Experience = 5
Rebuy Value = 5
I rate this product an "A+" for Topps/Bowman!
