2007 Topps Updates & highlights: Official release date November 17, 2007
Now that the 2007 Baseball season is over, Topps once again produced a great product for Topps cards collectors, autograph seekers either through the mail or in person, and finally for the rookie card collectors. When the season ends, collectors start looking forward to the Update & Highlights set. This Series 3 Updates & Highlights Baseball contains 36 packs with 10 cards per pack. The base set contains 330 cards with over 50 new Rookies not found in series 1 or 2. Topps also places a wide variety of inserts into this product.
Base Set 1-330
The base set has always been a hit with collectors for years, due to the rookies, the Updates of players in their new team uniforms & Highlights, such as Justin Verlander No-Hitter, that fill out the base set. If you liked the quality of the photos in either series 1 or 2 then you are sure to like the photos in Series 3. Another awesome feature about this product is the inclusion of cards of both the AL and NL all-stars as well as cards like Matt Holiday Home Run Derby.
Series 3 Topps features some nice inserts including:
Generation Now Inserts
A continuation from Series 2 highlighting the accomplishments of emerging stars from the 2006 season. 200 cards in all!
Alex Rodriguez Road to 500
The next Home Runs in the A-Rod Continuity Program. This is a real nice insert; I think Topps did a great job of using a variety of techniques to make the card stand out for collectors.
Barry Bonds
Barry Bonds Home Run History
A continuation from last year’s Updates and Highlights commemorating Bonds’ Home Runs from the 2007 season.
Bonds 756
Highlighting Bonds’ record-breaking 756th Home Run.
Barry Bonds 756 Relic
Relic cards commemorating Bonds’ historic Home Run, sequentially numbered* to 756. This is a real nice Game Used pants card that was inserted into one of the packs.
Barry Bonds 756 Autographed Relic
Barry Bonds’ record-breaking homer is featured on cards with a relic piece and his signature. Sequentially numbered* to 20.
Mickey Mantle
Mickey Mantle Home Run History

Mickey Mantle Home Run History Relics
A continuation from Topps Baseball Series 2 featuring a relic version of Home Runs #402-501. Sequentially numbered* to 7.
The Mickey Mantle Story
15 highlights from his early years presented on the famous 1954 Topps design. If you like the 1954 Topps cards, you will surely like the inserts of Mickey Mantle. Topps did an outstanding job of making the cards look like the 1954 version by even cutting the cards off center as was common back in 1954.
1954 Mickey Mantle Relic
Mickey Mantle on a reprinted version of the 1954 Topps design with a relic. Sequentially numbered* to 54.

Box Loader - 1 Per Box!
Another very cool insert that comes in its very own silver one card pack. When the box is opened, the first thing you see is this one card pack. I like the idea of what Topps did with this; it gets your heart pumping a little with the drama of what might be inside.

These cards have been a hit since Topps starting putting them in their Bowman and Topps packs. The 1st edition stamp is a feature that separates Topps from some of the other manufacturers of baseball cards.

My final thoughts on Topps Updates & Highlights:
This product is a must for baseball fans that like to open a product at a reasonable price. With the retail value of a box of cards around $60.00 to $75.00, kids can even afford packs of this product as well as boxes. Topps also did a nice job including rookies that were not inserted into Series 1 or 2 packs. My only concern is that the all black border cards may be hard to keep in gem mint 10 condition down the road. Overall, I really like this product as a fan of baseball, a collector and most of all, as an autograph seeker.
Value-5
Innovation-4.5
Fun and Experience-5
Rebuy Value-4
I give this product a rating of an A-, I really like the design of the cards and the price is right for kids and advanced collectors of Topps products. This product includes 57 new rookies rookies not seen in previous series. My only small concern keeping this product from getting a A is the all black border.

A special thanks goes to Topps for sending this great Updates & Highlights product to TR. I would also like to thank the staff at TR for allowing me (Hockeytown) to review this product.
The inserts from this product will be used for baseball contests throughout this coming baseball season. I will also be mailing base cards out to members in T.R.
