Here's what I pulled in our box of 2011 Topps Update Series Baseball.

Base Cards and Parallels;

The Topps Update Series has the same design of both Topps Series One and Two. The have a simple but classic look. One of my favorite cards out of the entire box, while not very valuable, was the All-Star version of Heath Bell. It features him when he slide on his way to the mound which I thought was one of most memorable parts of the game. The gold parallel cards are numbered out of /2011. Once again the Topps Diamond Anniversary cards are offered. They have same look as the early series but with a slight twist. You still receive the traditional diamond cards but there are now Blue Hope Diamond numbered to 60 and Cognac colored that are limited. The David Ross is an example of the Hope Diamond Paralell and the Chase Utley is an example of the Cognac.
Rookie Cards and Parallels;

The rookies have same design as the base cards.

Insert Cards;

There was quite a few inserts in this box but there was slightly less variety. The Topps Town inserts maintained there clean simple look. They also have a code that allows access to digital cards and other features. Topps 60 inserts feature 50 significant accomplishments by top players. Diamond Duos showcase two different players that share something in common, like the Weaver/Haren showing the Angels top two aces. The final kind of insert we pulled was the Kimball Champions mini cards.

Hits;

I did not receive a hit the box I reviewed. You are supposed to receive either an auto or relic per hobby box.

Final Thoughts on 2011 Topps Update Series Baseball;

Overall I was pleased with the box. I liked the addition of the Cognac and Hope Diamond Paralells. I did like the variety of more inserts in Series Two better but did like getting more Diamond Paralells this time around. It was disappointing not receiving a hit in this box but I am certain that this is an infrequent occurance.

Here's how I would rate this product;
  • Value = 4
  • Innovation = 4
  • Fun and Experience = 4
  • Rebuy Value = 4

I rate this product an "B" for Topps!

Maybe it's because I'm attracted to shiny things...but I like the diamond cards as well. Too bad about no hit in the box...that's kind of a drag.
