Here's what we pulled in our box of 2009 TRISTAR Prospects+ Baseball

Base Cards, Variations and Parallels;

Nice design with all of the information you would expect on the front. They even tell you the draft position if selected in the 1st round. If in the later rounds it only states the round. The scanned cards appear to be unreadable, but that is not the case by all means. A nice solid bio on the back includes Height, DOB, School, drafted by Team and they list the round selected and the overall draft position. Also, a section highlights their college career.

There are different variations in the base cards including color and image variations. The Hobgood above has two different colors of the same numbered card and the Ackley shows the image variations. The parallels we pulled are a gold of Chad James /50 and a green /25 of Joshua Phegley. We pulled one more green /25 of Matthew Hobgood too.

Autographed Cards;

2009 TRISTAR Prospects+ offer ten autographed cards per box in the Hotbox. The same basic design as the base, and the sticker autos blend in very well and almost look like on card autos. Most of the autos are of high-quality. The only one that is very light is the Richard Poythress card. Madison Younginer has the best autograph of the bunch. Here's the list of what we pulled according to version.
  • (6) Numbered to /199
  • (3) Numbered to /25 (green)
  • (1) Numbered to /5 (red)

Final Thoughts on 2009 TRISTAR Prospects+ Baseball

We were very fortunate to get a 2009 TRISTAR Prospects+ Baseball HOTBOX sent instead of a regular hobby. The box is actually serial numbered 255 / 720 produced. I guess you won't know the value of the box until the prospects make it to the major leagues or until they start their climb to the majors. We have three Boston Red Sox draftees in the autograph bunch and this could be a good break.

Auto cards look nice, and I like the OBAK draft cards. Some of the others look a little busy - the ones that have 3 or more players on them because of the vertical bars with names on them. I wish they would use a backdrop that wasn't faded either. Nice product, but not sure if I would buy them.

Nice review. Tristar looks like they're providing a quality product with a very good look to the cards. I look forward to more of their products and on card autographs.

Nice hotbox! Your scanner must've been exhausted after scanning all those hits, lol. Very attractive cards...let's hope these players see considerable time in the show!

Nice cards for Tristar, I like the looks. The only thing I don't care for is the parallels I just think these to many.
