Here's what I pulled in our box of 2010 Topps Heritage Baseball Trading Cards:
Box Loader;

When I busted this box, I didn’t realize there was going to be a box topper, so that was a nice added bonus to start the break off! The design is based on 3 of the base cards side-by-side, so I won’t go into design details here.
The box loader we pulled was:
• (1) Advertising Panel: Juan Uribe, Ramon Hernandez, & Gary Sheffield
The design of 2010 Heritage mimics the 1961 Topps base set. It is a white bordered set, with a picture box, a box for the player’s name, and a box for the player’s team.
One thing I noticed is the color boxes (name and team) go past the black stroke line and into the white border. I am guessing that this might have been a common issue with the original ’61 set, so they mimicked the production error??? (see close-up below)
The various “subsets” are the baseball thrills, league leaders, team cards, rookie cards, manager cards, and more. A few are pictured above. The league leaders show busts of the leaders of 2009 (NL wins leaders). The baseball thrills show a newspaper headline, and feature greats from the past (Jackie Robinson).
We pulled 152 out of the 425 regular base (not including the 75 SPs). There were no duplicates, so a little over 35%. So, this is not ideal for the set collector, since it will take 3 perfectly-different collated boxes to get a complete base. However, I know many people who go after this Heritage set, so it must be a fun set to successfully complete.
Short Prints and Dice Game Card Backs;
The Short Prints have a white back instead of the cardboard color.
We pulled 3 variations of the short prints. One looks exactly like the base set, one is called Topps News, and the last one is of MVPs from various years.
The ones that look like the base set are easy to tell…IF you flip the cards over…
The Topps Dice Game Card Backs have a grid, where you role 2 dice and follow the 2-12 (what you can roll with 2 di) to see what you’ve hit. You can roll a 12 and get a home run, or you can roll a 7 and hit a fly out, and so on and so fourth.
We pulled 9 cards with the white back:
• (8) Short Prints: 433 Casey McGehee, 440 Edinson Volquez, 454 Corey Hart, 467 Michael Young, 473 Miguel Tejada, 478 Jimmy Rollins, 486 Derek Jeter, & 492 Ryan Braun
• (1) Dice Game Card Backs: Chase Utley
Chrome Parallels and Refractors;

The Chrome parallel is the same design as the regular base, but they are – obviously – chromium. They are serial numbered out of 1961, and come in variations (Black-Bordered #/61 and Refractor #/561).
I do like numbered parallels; however, this parallel does not fit into the overall feel of the product. There were no chrome cards back in 1961, so there should not be these chrome parallels. They just feel out-of-place.
We pulled 6 chrome cards:
• (5) Chrome #/1961: C9 Chris Tillman, C14 Curtis Granderson, C61 Mat Latos, C86 Vladimir Guerrero, & C97 Tim Lincecum
• (1) Refractor #/561: C52 Kendry Morales
There are multiple insert sets in this product. They all have certain aspects which take off the base set, and they all have a vintage feel to them (unlike the Chrome parallel). They all have the white border with the inner black stroke line, and some have the “boxes” that separate the name and/or team. They are all easy to pull (for the most part; they are 2 per box for each insert set), so this box is great for the insert set collectors.
The inserts we pulled were:
• (2) Baseball Flashbacks: 5 Whitey Ford, & 10 Los Angeles Angels/Washington Senators
• (6) Chase '61: 4, 5, 6, 11, 13, & 14 (all of Babe Ruth)
• (2) New Age Performers: 1 Justin Upton, & 11 Zack Greinke
• (2) News Flashbacks: 1 Peace Corps, & 6 Twenty-Third Amendment is Ratified
• (2) Then and Now: 2 Roger Maris and Prince Field, & 8 Whitey Ford and Felix Hernandez
Relic Card;
Every box has either a relic or an autographed card. We pulled a relic card. The set is Clubhouse Collection, and the card is of Andre Ethier. Just like the base set, this is a clean and simple design which incorporates the various “boxes” to separate the elements (picture, name and team, “Game-Worn Jersey”, and relic). The neat part of the actual relic is that the die-cut window is shaped as a home plate and is a part of the baseball diamond.
The relic we pulled was:
• (1) Clubhouse Collection Relic: Andre Ethier
Final Thoughts on 2010 Topps Heritage Baseball Trading Cards;
One surprise I found was when I put the cards in order and noticed another SP I had originally missed. Not only was it an SP; it was the Dice Game Variation which is 1:72 packs! That was a nice ending to the box break.
The part I enjoy about Heritage every year is that it is filled with various variant cards, so some of our base cards might be rarer than I think! There are many SP cards, and many inserts. This is a fun break for the set collector and the insert collector.
The throwback design is also neat. Sometimes it is a great idea to mimic the past, and the entire product has a vintage feel to it…I can’t wait to put these cards in my bike spokes and chew on the gum that tastes like it is from 1961!

hahaha
