Draft pick cards are always fun to collect. You never know when that up-coming rookie is gonna be the next superstar of the diamond!



SCOUTING REPORT/CHECKLIST

This is a very handy tool for reading up on the new rookies and prospects. Often times, you'll pull cards of the "unknowns", and the scouting report gives some inside information that can be most valuable to the rookie collector!





Base Set
Great looking design that celebrates the 1949 Bowman series! It's nice to see todays stars on this classic format. Each card has a great close-up photo of the featured player along with a generous and informative paragraph printed on the back. I might also add, the print on the back is very easy to read.




Mini-1 Per Pack!
I hit the full 24 on these, 5 of them were rookies.




Rainbow-1 Per Pack!


I pulled a total of 22 of these, (the packs in this box that had a GU card didn't yeild a rainbow card). Of the 22, 5 of them were rookie cards. These are great looking cards with a silver foil border that makes them really stand out from the base set. Just a word of warning though, handle them gently as they seem to be very sensitive on the edges!



White-4 Per Box!
The white parallels fall on an average of 4 per hobby box. These parallels are really hard to detect, (in fact I'm still trying to find the "whites" in this box!). I've been reading that the "white" cards look so much like the regular base set, that you almost need the regular version sitting next to it so you will see the difference in the background colors! I've been reading that the white versions have a lighter colored background.




Pieces of Greatness
I pulled 2 bat cards:
Manny Ramirez
Edwin Encarnacion
I like the way these cards display. The design is like the base set, with the bat piece in the shape of a "B".




AUTOGRAPHED CARD

My autographed card is Kevin Whelan. Again, this card is the same design as the base set card, only with the autograph featured at the bottom. This autograph is "on card", which is refreshing to see with all of the "sticker" auto's out there that seem to be the norm now-a-days!

Final Comments/Grade/Best Card:

This is a great product that is very affordable. With 2 GU and 1 auto in the average box, the 1949 Bowman design, the fantastic rookie crop, and the parallels and inserts falling in every pack. 2006 Heritage should be a rewarding break for every collector! I've already spoken with some vintage collectors, as well as rookie collectors, and it looks like this one's gonna be a "hit" for most everyone!
This was a treat to open and report on. I hope you get a chance to break one, (or a few), of these boxes to see for yourself. I think you'll find that it's probably one of the best values on your hobby store shelves today.

I expect to see this product to dry up quickly. If you're considering a 2006 Heritage box break, you might want to hustle on this one!

As for my favorite, I'd have to go with the auto. I'm not a real fan of the featured player, however, the "on card" auto is great to see!
