Rich "Goose" Gossage elected to HOF

The only player to recieve nomination this year! Pity Jim Rice missed election by a mere 14 votes. What are your thoughts on the goose making the cut and the other nominees that didn't?

Goose is well deserved IMO. Look at the numbers, look at the longevity, look at the popularity and his contribution to the closer role so to speak.

Personally, I'd have voted for BERT BLYLEVEN & TOMMY JOHN (pitchers) before GOSSAGE. Although"GOOSE" was good, I think BERT & TOMMY were just as good or even better. However, thats just an opinion. So far as hitters, what about RICE, DAWSON, and maybe McGWIRE ??????

Goose should have been in awhile ago..he was one of the most dominant closers in the late 70's and early 80's. As much as I hated Rice playing against my team he sure did put up big numbers and in a time when Homeruns were not in the numbers we see today. I would love to see Jim get in but I am not sure as he is on the edge as is another one that could be elected in Andre Dawson.
At any rate great to see goose go in with his former manager in S.D. Dick Williams

I think goose getting in was well deserved however rice was snubbed but will most likely get in next year. Ricky henderson should get in next year as well in his first year of eligibilty. McGwire will probably not get in along with the other players to follow who have been caught up in the steroid era.
